We hear a motorcycle roar outside, Mars Investigations appears to be empty. Next we hear the door being unlocked and a windblown and annoyed Veronica steps in with her luggage.
Veronica, under her breath, mockingly: "'Los Angeles to Neptune in under 2 hours!' I'm never riding with Weevil again!"
From behind the front desk we see the computer chair spin to reveal Wallace, looking at his phone and glancing up at Veronica.
"1 hour and 43 minutes to be exact", Wallace corrected, "How was CrimeCon?"
"Started off great, the live recording of Neptune Nefarians went off without a hitch, but that guy who sends me all those obsessive emails was waiting backstage. I guess that's just the price of fame. But the car died in the parking lot, so I called in a favor for a ride back"
"Well, at least you're back, now we can start work on what's really important." Wallace pulls out a folder, stuffed to the brim with magazine clippings and fabric scraps. A new case? "All the information should be in here, but I don't know what next steps to take."
"Wallace… are you sure we should be doing this alone? What if something goes wrong and we have to call the whole thing off?" Veronica is oddly concerned.
"There's no backing out now. They're depending on us to get this finalized."
"Of course, but-"
Wallace slides a manila folder across the desk, "I'm handling everything here, so I'll call the Neptune Grand and see about the Murphy reservation. We need to know the second they're out so that we can swoop in. Does Logan have any connections that could help us?"
Veronica is exhausted as she takes the folder, "You know, I thought you working here was going to make my life easier. Let me see…" Veronica flips through the folder. "So far we know there's a flight to Seville, Spain, a bus up to El Terril, and, here it says, a helicopter pick up is planner for later that evening."
Wallace is nodding along, "Okay, then what?"
"Well, what does every hot-shot Don Juan do after a dangerous excursion? Bed his lucky lady."
Wallace blushes, uncomfortable with the turn in conversation.
"Jeez, Wallace you act like you've never done this before"
Wallace gives a look.
"Tell me you have!"
Wallace breaks, they laugh.
Veronica stands, "Man, you and Rebecca are lucky to have me. Without my experience as a getaway guru this wedding and honeymoon would never happen!"
Wallace rolls his eyes, "Ha. Ha. Alright, 'JLo in the Wedding Planner', go home and unpack."
Veronica stands as she does her best Matthew McConaughey impression, "Alright, alright, alright."
As Veronica exits we here the phone ring as Wallace answers "Mars Investigations, how can I help you?"
