The Swan Song of a Duck
by fatalwhispher
AUTHOR'S NOTE: This is my first Princess Tutu poem. It doesn't really follow the story of anime or the story within the story, but it's about Princess Tutu nonetheless. It's basically a mix of elements of the Prince and the Raven's story with Ahiru's tale. Well, when you review, BE NICE! NO FLAMING! Thanks:) And I don't own Princess Tutu.
A duck
A simple duck
Swam underneath the moon
Her golden feathers illuminated
In the soft silver light
And so did she swim
Over the smooth lake's surface
Dreaming of becoming a swan
Graceful and pure...
Beautiful and sad...
Taking to the air instead of the water...
And so did she dream...
A prince danced beside the lake
His dance was a delight to the eye
But it had no life within it
He was emotionless
His radiant face plagued with gloom
Ill with a shattered heart
The duck beheld him with awe
He reminded her of a swan
Beautiful yet sad...
Gracefully dancing beside the lake...
The little duck immediately wished
To see him smile
She pitied him who had no heart...
"If only I could help..."
And so did she hope...
Soon the duck found
A scarlet pendant
Washed up on the river's bank
The simple duck managed to
Get it around her neck
And by some strange mystery
The simple duck was transformed
Into a lovely and refined princess
Who reigned over the swans...
Princess Tutu...
At last the simple duck
Now a human girl
Could help save with the prince
She collected the fragments of his soul
Scattered across his kingdom
And returned them to him...
She almost cried
When she beheld him smiling...
And they danced together
Beside the lake
And so did Princess Tutu
Fall in love
But alas she had forgotten
That she was a mere duck...
A simple duck...
A duck and a prince cannot
Share the same destiny
Their paths cannot cross
Their fates could never intertwine
And so Princess Tutu
Confessed her love to the prince
Then, vanished...
Vanished in a flash of light...
Fate had destroyed her human form
For her defiance...
She would never speak nor dance
With her darling prince again
And so did her tragic tale end
And yet...
The prince still dances
Beside the lake
He remembers the swan
He had danced with
And he too, had secretly wished
To make her his princess
Grieving over what could never be ...
Over their unconnected fate
And a little duck...
A simple duck
Hid in the catttails
Watching him with tears
Dreaming of sharing another dance
With her beloved prince...
