Chapter 1
Smoke fills the room as I realize that I need to get out of here and fast. I scramble for the door and some how make it and get outside, then I realize i'm hurt. The arcidic smell of burned flesh fills my nose as I realize that my entire forearm is burned and I scoot down the wall and to the floor in shock. I can't believe this just happened, one chemical got knocked into the flame on the bur-sen burner and as I tried to turn it off there was an explosion ,then smoke and a chemical splash. Suddenly a hand touches my shoulder, "Barry you ok,I saw some smoke"a feminine voice says, "i don't know, my arm is burned I think"I say,coughing hard. "Ok we're going to get you some help alright but we need to get you outside first"she says, "OK,ow"I say as the women, Caitlin,and another guy a guard I guess take me outside. Once outside I find that I can breathe easier but that i'm also dizzy as I sit down on the curb as the sounds of sirens come closer and closer.
By the time the sirens are upon us and the ambulance comes to a stop,i'm seeing double as a medic kneels down beside me. "hey hon i'm Alicia,i'm here to help you alright,whats your name"she says, "Barry,god it hurts"I say, "where does it hurt"she asks, "my back,chest and arm"I say grimacing. "k we're going to get you fixed up"she says putting her gloved hand on my arm. Another medic comes over with a gurney and with little warning the lady picks me up under my arms and the guy grabs my feet and they lay me on a gurney. Then they load me into an ambulance and close the doors. Once they realize i'm having trouble breathing,the women puts a oxygen mask over my mouth and nose,and I start to relax. The last thing I remember before either falling asleep or passing out is hands on my body looking for other injuries.
