Summary: "Do you like the snow?"
A/N:
I've never written either character before, it's something new. It was
actually good fun, but I'm giving myself a heart attack about Gaara's
characterization. I tried out the stotic, won't open up so fast type.
This is for hinekoeloriel, Merry Christmas!
"Do you like the snow?"
Gaara turned around, heavy lidded eyes focusing on the pink haired medic. She was smiling, wrapped and tucked in warm clothing for the dark winter night. He debated whether or not he should answer, or just return back to the camp sight and leave her be. They had never talked before, and there was no reason to now.
Before he could make up his mind, however, she was kneeling next to him, doing something he couldn't see in the snow covered ground. It baffled him a little, she was intrudingly close… She stood up after a moment, in which he still hadn't moved, and showed him her creation. A snow man, equipped with twig arms and a smiling face.
"I love making them. If you have enough sticks and tools, you can give them funny faces or make snow-ninjas based off of your friends," She looked at him, her innocent smile faltering under his stoic stare. She bit her lip, turning towards her hastily made snow man.
She almost did a double-take. Sand was forming beside it, every grain shaping under his will. It enchanted her, combining and separating until she noticed it. The tiny detail of a smile, a leaf forehead protector nestled on top of short hair, a scarf tucked around the neck, sakura flowers imprinted with delicate care….
She turned to him, and he looked away, arms folded, an instinct of defense. His lips parted, a puff of air escaped. "Snow...It's acceptable," he muttered. She chuckled quietly.
"I like sand better."
