Two Silk Gowns
Gwen frowned as her hand hesitated over the gowns she had chosen to temporarily liberate from Morgana's wardrobe. Her honest nature protested at this current action but considering everything that Arthur had been through for her sake, it seemed to be the most minor of transgressions.
She grimaced then flushed with a little smile as she remembered how close she and Arthur had come to kissing over the fire that she had just lit in the woods. Had Morgana not appeared as she had then, who knows what else might have happened? How far would their embrace have gone?
They kept telling each other what people did for each other out of love but still they shied away from actually voicing their feelings. Instead, they danced this awkward dance, tentative steps that brought them close then pulled away again – always moving but never taking their eyes from their partner.
The signs were obvious for all to see and although Gwen could tell her feelings for Arthur were reciprocated, it killed her that she could not just throw her arms around him and thank him in a far more tender and passionate manner.
However, she had to make do with taking a deep breath before knocking on the door and entering Arthur's chambers where he was tending to some paperwork.
After she had made delivery of the garments, Gwen could barely recall what had been said. All she knew was that her heart was utterly lost to the handsome young man who had only sapphire blue eyes for her and who would happily risk his life in exchange for two silk gowns.
