A/N Hello English-speaking Fans of Soul Eater! Stein invaded my mind the other day - a blame the cosplay videos I watched- and was followed by Spirit, Maka, and Blair. Suddenly this Idea came into my mind and I shooed Stein away to work on it. Please enjoy!
Maka Alburn had always had trouble understanding her father. He never made any sense. Occasionally she asked him about why he did things that were the reason for her parent's parting, but he always changed the subject. It was almost as if he didn't know himself.
Sometimes Maka wondered if her father was just a perv. One example that proved that to her was a certain gift that he had sent to her through Blair. That gift bugged her. So she decided to ask about it.
Today was another day that Maka had lost a basketball game and had to spend with her father as a result. They were standing on the balcony at the DWMA. Maka looked out at Death city and started the conversation.
"Papa?" she asked, getting his attention.
"What is it Maka?" Spirit answered to his daughter.
"What kind of girl do you think I am?" Maka asked, staring out at the city with a blank face.
"That's easy, you're a smart girl, who loves to study and hang out with her friends. You're strong and I don't need to worry about you. Given that doesn't stop me." Spirit said, glad that it wasn't about his relationship with her mother.
"Then why did you have Blair give me lingerie for a gift?" Maka asked, slightly turning her face to see her father's reaction to the question.
Spirit was shocked. His face showed as much. Yet, it also showed confusion.
"I never gave her anything like that to give to you!" Spirit answered immediately.
Maka pulled out a card and handed it to Spirit. "Then why did you write this note to go with it?"
Spirit looked at the note and realized what must have happened.
"Listen, Maka, I gave Blair some money and this note so that she'd get you a book that you liked. I don't know why she would have thought that giving you 'that' stuff was right." Spirit said honestly.
"Really?" Maka asked turning to her father.
"Really." Spirit answered, looking as sincere as he could muster.
Maka's expression changed from a look of scorn to one of acceptance.
Spirit was relieved. Then he thought of something.
"Hey, do you want to stop by that book store later and get a couple books of your choice to make up for it?"
Maka smiled and replied, "That sounds great."
"Let's go then." Spirit said as he turned and started the walk to the store.
