'Anna-Jane Wilson,' Sirius told the Marauders, 'my new girlfriend.'

Arm-in-arm with Sirius was a tall, tanned girl with long blonde hair, her perfectly-manicured fingernails playing with her Hufflepuff tie.

'Hullo,' she said to them, and Sirius announced, 'we're going to Hogsmeade,' and they walked off.

Just then, James spotted Lily Evans standing a few metres away. James hurriedly made a bunch erupt from his wand, and approached Lily.

'Hey, Evans, there's this teashop in Hogsmeade, and...do you want to go there with me?' he asked, holding out the flowers.

Lily took the flowers, smiled sweetly, said, 'not in a million years,' and shot bluebell flames at the flowers.

'Fine, if that's the way you want it, Evans,' James said, ruffling his hair, and strutted away.

'Have...haveyou got any ideas,' James said to Remus, 'any ideas on how to-'

'How to get Lily to go out with you?' Remus interrupted, 'why don't you ask her out in an inventive way? Girls like that.'

'Oh, really?' James said, 'so...um...how about a huge banner reading, Lily go out with me,' and a huge bunch of flowers?'

'Um...maybe that's a bit too much...' Remus said, 'maybe you should...ooh, we'll think of something...oh!'

Remums whispered in James' ear. James frowned.

'That'll be my last resort!' he said, 'now, d'ya wanna go spy on Sirius and Blondie?'

'Okay,' said Remus, shrugging, 'whatever.'

'I wish I hadn't agreed to this,' Remus groaned, staring at the table.

He and James had followed Sirius and Anna-Jane top Madam Puddifoot's, and, to fit in at this teashop usually used for dates, Remus and James had posed as a couple.

Suddenly James grabbed Remus' hand and said loudly, 'oh, you're so fit, Remus!'

'We're supposed to be trying to blend in!' Remus hissed.

'Yeah, but I just love winding you up!' James said, laughing.

They glanced at Sirius' table. Sirius had gone to the toilet, and Anna-Jane was stirring her drink absentmindedly.

Suddenly, one of Snape's cronies, Rodolphus Lestrange, got up, bent down and whispered in Anna-Jane's ear. James' mouth fell open.

'Darling, give us a kiss,' Remus laughed, but his face fell as Rodolphus and Anna-Jane kissed.

James stood up and pulled out his wand.

'No-one two-times my friend!' he yelled.

Rodolphus collapsed with laughter.

'You're on a date with Remus Lupin?' he said, rolling on the floor, roaring with laughter.

James flushed, turning to Anna-Jane, who glared at him.

'How long has this been going on?' he snarled.

Just then, Sirius walked out of the toilet, and saw the scene.

'What the-' Sirius started, 'James, what are you doing?'

'Your girlfriend's been dating Rodolphus Lestrange all along!' James hissed.

Sirius rolled his eyes, and said, 'I know. Anna-Jane and I have been doing a Defense Against The Dark Arts project together, but if you knew about it, you'd tease me-mercilessly. So I told you she was my girlfriend to save the hassle-and why are you on a date with Moony?'

'We weren't,' James explained, 'we were...spying on you.'

'Where's Peter?' asked Remus, 'haven't seen him all day.'

At that ime, in the Slytherin common room, Peter played table tenni8s with Lucius Malfoy.

'I win again!' he announced with glee.
