Blair Sandburg gently pulls away from his lover, unconsiously licking his lips. He nervously laughes, rubbing the his temple with the tip of his fingers. "Wow."
Maya Carasco looks down, tucking her long, curly hair behind her ear sheepishly. "Blair..." she sighs, but he shushes her down.
"Don't. Don't say that."
She looks up and their eyes meet. "I'm sorry."
"Maya, don't," he begs, placing one, shakey hand on her shoulder before she escapes his touch. "Just for a little while longer. Please."
She rapidly gets up from his bed, shaking her head. "I can't stay," she whispers, picking up her handbag from the floor. Before she can go any further, he pulls her hand and holds it in his. "I'm begging you to stay. What else do you want me to do?"
Maya pauses for a moment then leans over and kisses him quickly on the lips. "There's nothing else you can do, Blair."
"I need you," he whispers, nearly choking. "Maya, I love you. Maya, I want you to stay!" he calls after her as she nears the door. She turns around and leans her body against the doorframe.
"You don't need me, Blair. You'll soon forget all about me, you'll see. I'm a strong woman," Maya says before she bursts into tears. Blair hurries and slides his arms around her, pulling her close to him. "I don't want you to miss me," she sobs into his shoulder. "I want to know you're going to be alright."
He leans his head against hers, letting his tears wet his face. "I'm not," he admits. "How can I be alright when you're leaving?" he pulls away and looks down at her. "You're never coming back, are you?"
She takes a handful of his long curls and somehow manages to put a smile on her face. "I'll call you."
"No you won't," he sadly replies; there was his nervous laugh again. "I'm sorry, I'm being selfish aren't I. Forcing you to stay just because of me..."
She sofly caresses his cheek. "Goodbye, Blair." She picks up her handbag and turns around to leave.
Reluctantly he raises his hand and waves. "Goodbye, Maya," he whisperes to her slowly-disappearing figure. "I'll try my best not to miss you."
He watches her leave his apartment, letting a few weary tears escape the corners of his eyes. Deep down inside, he already knows he's failed.
