"You should go see your father. He's in some slum called 'Kanama'," Winry says as she places a box full of automail supplies on a shelf.
Golden eyes look up at the blonde haired mechanic. The squeak of automail slowly clenching and unclenching fills the room. "So do you know anything about this 'Promised Day' stuff?" She ask as she turns to look at Ed.
He holds her cobalt eyes for a moment before sighing and saying, "Yeah, Greed told me," he looks down at his mismatched hands, "That day will be a chance for us to get our bodies back," he pauses, "And the day when Amestris might be obliterated."
She turns again and starts folding an oily rag, mulling over what Ed had just said. "Hey," he grunts.
She turns to look at him, "Hmm?" he averts his eyes.
"I want you to take Grandma and Den and go hide in another country."
And so the fury of God rains down on the poor alchemist's head. "Are you serious?" she barks at him, clutching her wrench to her side, "Whats the point of only taking your friends and family to run? Are you saying you can't stop that all from happening anymore!"
With both tempers flaring now, Ed hops up and yells, "We can stop it, and we will! But there's that small chance- "
"There's no small chance! There's no nothing!" she shouts. Ed backs down, golden eyes wide. "You have to stop those guys and protect our country! And you and Al have to get your original bodies back! I will do whatever I can to help!"
The State Alchemist averts his eyes, "Geez, talk about simplifying things," he mutters.
She walks up to him, "But, you've never given up this easily," she mutters, tears coming to her azure eyes. Ed knots his eyebrows together and looks down at her, placing a hand on her shoulder.
"You do know that you said the next time you cried they would be tears of joy, right?" he asks placing his other hand under her chin to make her look up at him.
She looks into his golden eyes, her own threatening to spill over with tears. She yanks her chin from his hand and furiously rubs the tears from her eyes. "Promise me you will get your body back," she says, eyes still shining with tears.
He smiles at her, which in turn made her eyebrows scrunch together. Ed grabs her face with both his hands and pulls her towards him. He places a soft kiss on her lips. She stiffens at his bold action, tightening her grip on her wrench.
"I promise," he says grabbing his coat and walking out of her room.
She stands there with a dazed look on her face. She sways slightly as she walks to her door. She closes it and mutters, "I hate how he works sometimes."
I promise.
Those words alone let her know that he would get his body back.
