A/N: Written for the following:

Pairing Diversity Boot Camp Challenge at HPFC (prompt 35: purple).

mew-tsubaki. Merry belated Christmas!

Moreover, MillicentLilyii is an M&MWP. And this is set in the universe that I call "aww, boyzzz" for which I've written two stories before, "don't ruin the leather seats, boys," and "you should have a dress code, boys."

Thanks to lovelyapper for beta-reading!

Sitting on Top of the World

(which is in your lap)

"Oh, let's not." Millicent looked rather uncomfortable where she was on the seat, hands tucked under her legs so she was sitting on them, and her back pressed as far back against the cushions as it was possible.

Lily pressed her small body closer to Mil's where she was straddling the older woman. "Why?" she asked under her breath. "It's been awfully long."

"Two weeks is hardly a long time, Lils," Millicent huffed. "And, besides, your brother keeps throwing me ugly looks. I'd like to be on his good side, if this is going to work."

"Pfft, who's he to talk?" Lily said lightly, her hands creeping up in Millicent's hair, causing the dark-eyed woman to sigh softly. "He's been all over Teddy lately, so he really hasn't anything to complain about." She leaned her forehead against Millicent's, and watched contently how Millicent rolled her eyes. It was one of the first things about the woman that had picked Lily's interest—how she didn't seem to give a shit, and never actually seemed to react. Growing up in a family filled with drama queens and different emotional outbursts every single day had made Lily quite used to—and bored of—so easily reading people. With Millicent, one could never tell what she was thinking.

"Well, maybe that's not what I meant. Maybe I meant that if I'm to befriend your brother, I should actually pay attention to his performance."

Lily leaned a bit backwards, and when Millicent unconsciously followed her, so that they didn't actually separate from each other, she smirked. "Instead of snogging my brains out, you mean?"

Millicent narrowed her eyebrows. "Shut up and listen, you sneaky little…"

Lily smiled, and slid off Millicent's lap so that she was sitting next to her on the tiny seat. They were in a small pub and the music from the stage was pounding. Sure, Lily liked to watch Albus perform with his band, but she hadn't seen Millicent in two weeks, so she had to be excused. She grabbed Millicent's hand.

And received a confused look in response. All right then, maybe the two of them weren't much for public displays of affection—expect for the snogging, but those were always so aggressive it rather depended on them being horny—but Lily really, really, was happy to see Millicent again.

"What?" she asked, defensively.

Millicent lowered her eyelashes for a second, and then looked up. "Nothing."

"Thought so," Lily responded, and grabbed tighter around Millicent's hand. On the stage, Albus was doing some kind of striptease, completed with a poem about Teddy's purple hair, and Scorpius and Clara were busy trying to get him to stop. However, Lily didn't even notice how Teddy, who sat in the booth next to them, was so red in his face he matched the colour of the leather cushions. She just saw Millicent's eyes and the way they constantly seemed to grow darker with warmth.

"When I was away," Millicent began with a quiet voice, "I thought about you a whole lot."

Lily was afraid her hand was sweaty, but she refused to let go. "And I you. When you were gone, I did nothing but miss you."

Millicent leaned over and kissed her.
