Ice Cream: A KibaNaren Drabble
Naren sighed, blowing a strand of hair out of her eyes. She sunk down on the bench. She was really bored. Naruto was out on a mission with Sakura and Sai and she had absolutely nothing to do. When Naruto was here, there was always something going on, whether it was goofing off or causing mischief. Even when it was just her and Sakura, there was something to do, though she wasn't as fun to hang out with than her brother but mostly because Naruto ran on the same brain wave as her, a brain wave that nobody else seemed to be able to register.
In addition to Naren's boredness, it was also excruciatingly hot outside. Hardly anyone was out except a few brave souls doing there jobs. She had roled up her shorts long ago and took her short-sleeved hoodie off, but it hadn't made much a difference. She was still sweating profusely from the heat. Sure she could always go home to the air conditioned apartment she and Naruto now shared, but that was even more boring than sitting and watching the few people that were out passing by. What she wouldn't give for some ice cream and someone to eat it with right now.
"Ohayo, Naren-chan," said a voice. Naren sat up and looked behind her. Her mood instantly lightened. It was Kiba and Akamaru, her two favorite people, well person and dog, after her brother and Sakura and Aoi. She waved enthusiastically.
"Ohayo, Kiba-kun!" she returned. She scooted over to make room for Kiba. He sat down beside her. She notieced he was wearing a loose sleeveless top that showed off his muscular arms and long shorts.
"What's up, Naren?" he asked, looking sideways at her. "Where's Naruto and Sakura?"
"Them and Sai are on a mission with Kakashi," Naren blew a strand of her hair. She had negleted to grab her headband so nothing was holding her bangs back. She returned the sideways glance back at him. "What about you? Where's Hinata-chan and Shino-kun?"
"Not sure. I was looking for them, but I saw you and came over here instead," he said, smiling at her. Naren blushed, smiling sheepishly. What was wrong with her? She wasn't shy. But ever since she had met Kiba she found that he could make her blush easily. Maybe he would go get some ice cream with her? Nah, he would never ask her out.
"Hey, you want to go get some ice cream?" Kiba asked. Naren almost fell off the bench.
"W..What?" she asked, shocked.
"I understand if you don't want to, but it's so hot out, and I figured the best thing to do was see if you wanted to get some ice cream with me," said Kiba, turning away.
"K..Kiba-kun," stuttered Naren. She never stuttered before either. Why did this dog boy make her heart pound so much?
"We won't call it a date," he said, grinning sadly. "Just get some ice cream as friends." Naren gulped, and swallowed the lump in her throat.
"Kiba-kun, I would love to go get some ice cream," she said, smiling a wolfy grin similar to Naruto's fox grin. Kiba smiled widely.
"Really? Like as a date?" he cried. Akamaru barked and shook his tail happily.
"Why not!" said Naren. She took Kiba's hand and led him to the ice cream parlor. She was never more happy to have an ice cream cone in all her life. Today was a wonderful, ice cream eating day, and she was happy she could share it with Kiba Inuzuka.
