Title: What Rose Loves

Rating: K

Summary: Shows the loves of Rose's life.

Disclaimer: If I owned Doctor Who I wouldn't have been jumping up and down today when I found out that Australia gets the new series on June 30 (Xmas special 28th). I would have seen it already!

Author's Note: I got the idea of this when our grade had this stupid plagiarism workshop. We were learning how to site sources, and one of the sources was a quote. When the day was over all I could remember was the quote and the idea for this fic. Later that day I actually let my friend copy my homework :P

What Rose Loves

Love is probably the most over-used word in the English language. We say we love pizza or we love that new lippie, but love is so much more than attachments to things or experiences, it's actually devotion – Nikki Goldstein

After a day of saving a defenceless planet from an alien invasion, Rose and the Doctor sat down to a meal of chips.

"Mmmf hgsdi chwys," said Rose as she shoved the chips into her mouth.

"Sorry?" asked the Doctor. Rose swallowed.

"I said, I love chips," she said. "Honestly, the guy who thought of taking a disgusting, mushy potato and coating it in golden, crispy, fatty, oily goodness is an absolute genius."

"Oh yeah?" said the Doctor, raising an eyebrow. "And what about Edison's invention of the light bulb? Or Alexander Graham Bell's telephone? How do they compare to the cholesterol-raising artery-clogging weight-gaining food that is the chip?" Rose pondered this for a moment.

"They're all right I guess," she said. "But you can't eat a light bulb."

"Well, I'm sorry Rose but I think there are better inventions than chips," the Doctor said. "Nice as chips are, edible ball bearings are much cooler." Rose laughed.

"Ready to go Rose?" called the Doctor.

"Give us a minute," replied Rose as she searched through the drawers in her room. The Doctor hesitated, then walked in.

"What are you looking for?" he asked.

"My lip gloss," said Rose. "Ah … there's the little devil." She picked it up and, turning to a mirror, applied it to her lips.

"You don't need that stuff you know," the Doctor said. "You're fine the way you are." Rose smiled.

"Thanks," she said. "But I love this stuff. It makes my lips look plumper and shinier, plus it's strawberry flavoured."

"Is it now?" the Doctor asked. "Could I … have a taste?" Rose was slightly taken aback. Was it normal for a guy to want to taste lip gloss?

"Er, sure, I guess," she said, handing him the tube. But instead he walked up to her, looked into her eyes, leaned in and softly kissed her on the lips. After pulling back he licked his lips.

"Mmm," he said. "Quite nice. Sweet, kinda juicy … my opinion? Beautiful. Fantastic." As he walked towards the door he turned to her and added, "The lip gloss wasn't bad either." Rose blushed.

Rose watched as the dinosaurs roamed just a few metres away from her. The Doctor had taken her back to a very early point in the history of Earth. The peaceful setting gave her time to reflect on everything she'd been through.

"How long are you going to stay with me?" the Doctor asked suddenly. Before answering, Rose paused to think about the Doctor and what he meant to her. She realised that he was the best thing that had ever happened to her. And in this environment, it was so easy to see what truly mattered. He was the one who had bought her chips on a planet she couldn't pronounce the name of. He was the one who thought she was fantastic for just being herself. He was the one who always had faith in her. And he was the one she wanted to be with 'til the end of time. He was the one she loved. She turned to him, and smiled.

"Forever."
