(A/N: This is the companion piece to "Living," but you don't have to read that one first to understand this. If you want to read it, it's only like 100 words, so it won't take you long to read. Enjoy!)

Dead

Jacob would visit where Leah was buried often.

Every time he visited, he was surprised at how strangely peaceful it was there. People always think of cemeteries as eerie, creepy places, but they were actually perfectly serene.

Being there, with Leah, was always easier than going out and living his life.

He could say anything to Leah without judgment, because he knew that Leah couldn't hear him.

The first time he visited, he whispered "Leah…I hope that you're happy wherever you are, and…and I miss you, Leah." Then he ran out of there.

Now, he had been there so many times that he felt like he could tell her anything.

This time, he whispered, "Leah, Sam and Emily are having a baby girl. They're naming it after you. I didn't think you would have liked that, I didn't tell them that. I didn't want to ruin their happiness."

Jacob takes a breath, can almost hear Leah answering him in some sarcastic way, and then he continues speaking. "I still haven't imprinted, Leah. I never will. And if I do, I'll fight it. You're the only one I'll ever love, Leah Clearwater."

Just like when Leah first died, Jacob knew that Leah would want him to get on with his life, but he couldn't.

In the peaceful quiet, Jacob wondered if it was easy to be dead.

He knew that it must be easier than still being alive after losing someone you love.
