Disclaimer: I don't own Itazura na kiss.
"Naoki, can I talk to you for a minute"? My father-in-law asked me as I walked in the door from the hospital.
I was surprised he was still awake, it was almost midnight and he usually goes straight to bed after closing.
"Sure" I stepped into his room. He shut the door to his room and we both stood face to face.
"I wanted to tell happy I am that you and Kotoko made up yesterday. I'm happy she's happy. I heard about her classmate, Keita, trying to cause problems for both of you." He said smiling.
I winced at the mention of Keita's name. But glad he's realized he can't compete with Kotoko's strong feelings for me.
"It's all in the past now, sir" I rocked my heels.
"Except for one thing" he said, like I forgot something.
Before I asked what I was he blindsided me by punching me and grabbing me by my neck and shoving me against his wall.
His face was now pure anger and hatred.
"You ever raise a hand to my daughter again, you answer to me." He pointed his finger from his free hand in my face.
I was scared, shitless. "Did Kotoko tell you?"
"She might of let it slip when I talked to her this morning about your argument. And I promised her I wouldn't confront you about. But promises are meant to be broken. I'm sure you know about that." He gave the most deadliest look I've ever seen in my life.
"You are extremely lucky Etsuko, Kotoko's mother, is no longer around. You'd be dead in a heartbeat. So listen to me clearly, if you do something like this again, it won't be your hand I'll chop off." He let go of me.
I coughed while trembling in fear.
"Let me tell you something. When you two are having a normal marriage argument, that's you guys' business. But when it to putting hands on each other, it's my business." Dad said in his same warning tone.
"Yes sir" I answered like a soldier in fear.
"Not a single word to Kotoko about this conversation. I don't like get into you and her problems, but a line was severely crossed. I never raised a hand to her growing up. And neither will you ever again, because I will never trust you again. So remember I will be watching you."
"Yes sir" I replied.
His expression changed rapidly like Kotoko's with a huge smile on his face.
"Okay, goodnight" he pushed me out the door.
"Goodnight" I repeated running right upstairs to me and Kotoko's room and saw she was sound asleep.
I gave her a kiss on the cheek and silently apologized to her and went to take a shower before going to bed.
The end. Sorry but this fic needed to happen.
