From the time Mamoru had woken up that morning, he had been having a horrible day. The worst kind of day imaginable and his days were rarely that good to begin with. Everything that could go wrong did go wrong.
First his alarm hadn't gone off and when he woke up he realized he only had about 20 minutes to get to class. He was forced to throw on his clothes, grab his books and belongings, before dashing off without any time for breakfast or even a cup of tea to wake up properly. On this ongoing worst of all days, Mamoru also managed to miss the bus that he normally took to get to his school which of course meant he had to wait for the next one to arrive.
Mamoru had always been the pride of all of his teachers, never forcing them to even look at him crossly. He always came prepared and he was never late, everything a good disciplined student should be. However, on this excruciating day Mamoru had to walk into the class after it had already started thus earning him a glare, albeit a startled one, from his professor. What made this even worse was that once Mamoru had taken his seat and begun to get his things in order he realized that although he had indeed grabbed his books he had managed to forget everything else. Sadly he had left all of his notes and the paper that he had worked so hard on getting finished on his table at home, earning him yet another glare from his esteemed professor.
If things weren't bad enough, the weather itself decided to add to his misery by beginning to rain on his way home from classes. Luckily Mamoru had brought along his umbrella considering the weather man had mentioned rain the night before. Unfortunately a particularly strong gust of wind took the umbrella out of his hands just as Mamoru opened it.
Mamoru simply dropped into the nearby bench, too stunned at his incredible bad luck to do much more then watch his umbrella blow off to who knows where. He barely registered the fact that he was fast becoming soaked, as all he could think of was that he wished this horrible day would either end quickly or begin again.
It was a few long minutes before he realized that the rain was no longer striking him and he glanced up startled. The sight that met his miserable gaze however instantly brought a smile to his face. Usagi had taken the seat next to him, a brightly colored umbrella held tightly in her hand covered both of them. Her smile was like the sun peeking from behind the clouds, bringing warmth and brightness to an otherwise gloomy day.
"I was going to go visit the girls Mamo-chan, but I saw you sitting here in the rain. You looked so gloomy so I thought maybe you needed cheering up." Usagi linked her arm through Mamoru's, pressing against him despite his jacket being wet. "I'll call the girls later and explain why I didn't make it. What's wrong?"
Mamoru couldn't help thinking of that old saying 'Every cloud has a silver lining'. The day that had started out so terribly, had suddenly gotten much more interesting with Usagi's presence.
