Waving In the Breeze

Summary: Two meet during the night, but a third watches silently. [Holly x Breeze, one-sided Heather x Breeze Oneshot.

A/N: I HAD to write it. I mean, it's such an awesome idea. You know it is. Just read it. See if you can figure out who is who.

My bolt of lightning in the night sky. She walks like she has wings and fights like she's the best of them all. Because she is.

I press my paws silently into the ground, letting the scent flow over me. I know that he's hiding somewhere. I sit down to wait, because I know he'll come.

There they are. I smell them, their scents mingling in the night air. Leaf-fall makes the air crisp, and their scents fill the air with a sharp tang.

But I know that she's hiding in the shadows. How could I not? I've known her since kithood. I thought that ThunderClan apprentice was good enough for her, but obviously not. But I can't help it. I creep out of the shadows.

"There you are!" I exclaim. "I almost thought you weren't coming!" I purr, pressing my pelt against his and letting his scent fill my senses with elation. "I'm so glad you came," I whisper.

I knew it. They're meeting secretly and I know that he's been sneaking out every night. He wakes up tired and full of their scent. I bare my teeth, knowing that that ThunderClan weakling is going to pay. Because when I tell Onestar, he'll have something to say about it.

I worry about what she'll say, but I whisper, "How could I not? You are the most beautiful she-cat in the world. My star in the sky, the fire in my heart."

I wonder where that comes from. "I like that," I murmur. "I really do. You're so sweet." He looks down at his paws, his ears tingeing pink. "You don't have to be ashamed," I whisper. "I like it. It's nothing like anything I could ever come up with."

I watch as they exchange words. It's like they've got nothing better to do. Well they do. Leaf-bare is coming. They should be hunting, and I know that they know. But what can I do? She's stolen him from me, and now I'll never have him

I give her a lick over one ear. "Thanks," I say. "That's really nice. But you don't have to lie to me." My poetry has never been good, and she should know. But even as I thank her, I know who's hiding in the shadows, and I know why.

He thanks me, and I smile. "I'm not lying," I say quietly. "I'm telling you the truth. It's beautiful, and I love it. Just like I love you."

How could she?! How dare she?! I love himHe's mine! But I falter. I see how happy he is with her, and I see how happy she is with him. Am I wrong to do what I'm doing?

I shift uncomfortably underneath her loving gaze. "I love you too," I whisper, pressing my muzzle to hers. I press my pelt against hers, and entwine my tail with hers. I want to stay this way forever, but I know that moonset will come all too soon.

I breathe in his scent, and I shiver. He presses closer against me, and I press back. He knows that I love him and I know that he loves me. But how far will we go to reach our dream? What terrors will we unleash? But even as I think these thoughts, his scent reaches me, and my nightmares are sent away.

No. I am right. They cannot be doing this. It's wrong. Just like… I falter. I did this once. Am I wrong? And as they press against each other saying goodbye, I know. I am wrong. I have dreams. And so do they. I will leave them in peace.

A/N: Good? R & R!
