She stood with her back to him, completely unaware of his presence. He was worried, she had slipped out of the house, with a quiet grace uncharacteristic of her, and he monitored her progress. When she stepped into the moonlight, he gasped quietly. Her face carried the look of anguish with a devastating beauty and he felt his heart stop at the sight. She came to a fluid stop at the first tree that marked the beginning of a still unknown forest and placed a delicate hand on the bark. She took one last look at the bright moon before letting the darkness of the forest swallow her figure.
Prince Kyo watched her, night after night as she went into the forest, seeing the same look of utter devastation that never ceased to wrench his heart. He often wondered what made her look so broken, Tohru always seemed so happy. When he once broached the subject, a look of confusion swept across her face, "what are you talking about? Of course I'm happy!" she gave that thousand watt smile and continued "silly Kyo, what reason would I have to be sad?" that question, her voice, ran through his mind night after night as he watched her go. "DAMNIT WHAT'S WRONG!" Kyo yelled and slammed his hand on his desk. Kyo sank into his chair overlooking the castle grounds, and slumped over in defeat. "what's wrong?" he whispered brokenly to the indifferent castle walls, as if they had an answer. "what's wrong?"
