Hi, this is a rewritten version of Hands of a Lady. Megumi has always been one of my favorite characters, and as I am just finishing the manga, I realize how much she loved Kenshin; so just a little dabble.
I do not own Rurouni Kenshin. That belongs to Nobuhiro Watsuki.
Her hands, with long tapered fingers and clear white skin looked very ladylike… except, were her hands always so calloused and rough? Not long ago she would have fussed over her hands looking so rough, and then fussed some more. She laughed to herself, had she ever been that silly. She was very different from the person she once was.
It was all because of him; Kenshin. He had, with a few words changed her view of herself and everyone else. She had always thought that her life belonged to her and to her only, but now…Megumi realized that her life wasn't hers alone, she had a duty to those who relied on her unladylike but capable hands, and that the wrong that she had done with those hands would be fixed. They will be!
She of course, just had to fall in love with him. Did it happen granularly? Or was it as easy as taking a breath, she didn't know. Her memories of love before him were distant and blurred. Silly school girl crushes, not real love.
Megumi sighed, tomorrow morning she would have to do a thorough cleaning of all her tools, do four house calls, then come back to the hospital put together three different kinds of medicine, then the hospital would open and she would work till three o'clock. Next she would go back to her house, and clean, cook, and wash. Then if she could make it in time she would sit in at dinner at the Kamiya dojo and, there she would find warmth, laughter and horrible food.
Kenshin would be there, laughing quieting at Yahiko and Kaoru's fighting, then he would turn to Sano and say something. His hands were that of an artist, and were very beautiful, she could watch him forever.
But he didn't love her, and she knew that. Heck from what she could tell he wasn't even attracted to her, and that hurt her pride as almost as much as her heart.
Oh, well. Someday she knew that she would have to give up her love for him, probably sooner rather than later. Until then she would give him everything she could until then, and when he finally decided to tell Kaoru he loved her. Well, she wouldn't think about that now, she would work hard to measure up to the love she felt toward him.
Please, I would love a review.
