(ok so there is no Naruto in this. He has been replaced with my own character Mayuna Uzumaki. Hope you like!)
Pairings: GaaXOC
It was raining….again. He hated the rain. It had been raining for the past three days strait and he was sick of it.
Why can't this damn rain stop? He asked himself as he laid his head on the cold window. Gaara was not a happy camper at the moment.
Gaara let out a sigh and stood up again. He could do some paperwork to take his mind off the down pour out side, but he was also sick of looking at boring old scrolls needing his signature. Instead, he went to his book shelf and pulled out his photo album.
After his death and resurrection, Temari suggested that he keep a record of the people around him so he never forgets them. What he never told Temari was that most of the pictures were of the love of his life, Mayuna. This girl had saved him from himself over three years ago and had saved him again just 6 months back. Gaara thought back to that day. After Mayuna and the others left Suna, Temari told him of what happen when his body was rescued. She told him that Mayuna was in tears. That she was begging for a miracle to happen and he would not be dead. Mayuna had yelled and screamed and cursed every god in heaven for his fate. And then, when Elder Chiyo heard her lamenting, she decided to give her life to save his. Sadly, the Elder did not have the strength to save him. Mayuna, knowing that giving her life energy could kill her, gave the Elder her strength. At this, Gaara felt a throb in his heart. The life force coursing through him is that of Mayuna. She was willing to give him everything he needed to live happy. He gave a small smile at this thought.
Gaara walked to his bed. (Now that he could sleep, he had one placed in his room.) He sat down and flipped through the pages of pictures. Every single one was of Mayuna smiling or of her and her friends hanging out. Gaara gazed at her and allowed his mind wander. What would happen if I told her? He asked himself. He wanted very badly to tell her that he loved her, but he was afraid that it would hurt her. He knew that she was in love with the Uchiha, and when he left, her heart was shattered. He didn't want her heart to hurt like that again. He was afraid that if he told her his feelings, she would think of Sasuke, and she would be in pain.
No, it'll be better if I don't tell her. I'll love her from a distance. That way, I won't hurt her like Uchiha did. He told himself. He continued through the album, smiling here and there at Mayuna's crazy antics and pranks. She always had so much fun and enjoyed life so much, it made him wonder if she really had as hard of life as he had had. But then, at times, her smile would fade. She would have such a look of pain and understanding that her eye would look hundreds of years old. She would speak quietly, and wisely. At those times, Gaara wanted nothing more than to hold her and make every pain in her hurt disappear. He wanted to hold her close and kiss her to make her forget her past. He wanted to hear the sounds she makes when touched in certain places. He wanted to make her see how happy she makes him when he just looks at her. He wanted to show her, and express it in the most intimate way possible.
But he would never get that chance. Gaara will not take her.
Gaara set aside the album and rested his head on the head board. He looked out the window and growled. It was still raining.
