Hi! My name is Nicola and this is my first posted Bones fanfic, and my second for a TV show. Like many people I had heaps of ideas after the 100th episode. This is my take on Booths feelings. Enjoy!

Tomorrow

And even after everything

They walk together through the still night, her heels and their breath the only noise in the world. Bones ignore the tears that make their way down his cheek, leaving trails of silver.

She leaves with a murmured apology and excuse, hurries to her car. He swallows. There is a lump in his throat that feels like it's made of steel wool. His hands are still shaking and he can't make himself move.

he'll have to see her tomorrow.

He doesn't sleep that night. He lies in bed until dawn, then sits on his couch in an empty apartment. Little pieces of her are everywhere. She left a scarf on the table last week. Her favourite wine is in the pantry.

She's on his skin, in him. He can taste her on his lips.

he'll have to see her tomorrow.

They are assigned a case, shockingly enough. The Bureau expects him to call her up, bring her over. He takes the case file, nods, attempts a smile, then runs to the bathroom and vomits. He looks in the mirror. He's grey and stretched. He's made of string or cobwebs or glass. If he falls, he'll break. And he's teetering on the edge.

Perotta takes the case. He goes home sick and drinks himself to sleep.

he'll have to see her tomorrow.

He gets woken up by a knock at the door. It's too hesitant and too loud to be her, cutting to the centre of his headache. He struggles up. It's Sweets, holding a six-pack and a bag of Chinese food.

As he finds plates and dishes out the food, through the haze of whiskey and beer, he wonders if he can still call her Bones. He doesn't know if he'll be able to.

But she's Bones.

He sees things as they are. He can't see himself without her.

he has to see her tomorrow.
