Levy knew that in some way, Gajeel was attracted to her. It was something that Levy understood, and everyone knew that Levy was extremelyextremely smart. The way Gajeel would talk to her, that cute blush whenever he talked to her face-to-face, and those extremely long glances he gave her when he thought nobody was looking (but of course Mirajane, ever observant, would be chuckling in the back).
Levy wasn't stupid; she read hundreds of books on a daily basis in the guild. Sooner or later she would have noticed those piercing eyes that were watching her intently. But surprisingly, Levy wasn't intimidated by his gaze, although their past was quite shaky and he was rather scary. Rather, his gaze felt affectionate, looking after her protectively. It was cute, Levy thought.
She enjoyed the warm feeling she got when he looked at her. Levy would blush (but secretly), her locks of blue hair falling forward and shadowing her face. But every now and then, she would reach up and tuck her hair behind her ear, knowing that Gajeel would want to see her face.
Sometimes, Levy would look at Gajeel when he looked at her. In those simple glances they shared, something deeper was there. It was like a knowingness, or an acceptance of the relationship they had. They both knew that they liked each other, or rather Levy knew that she liked Gajeel and he liked her back, and Gajeel was crushing on her from a distance. But there was no need to pursue any further relationship besides those simple glances, because in those glances were love.
Love and hope. When those bright hazel orbs met those sharp red eyes, love and hope twisted into a string that intertwined their fates.
And when those two fates were connected, the stars would align.
