"David! Ouch! Stop pulling my hair!"

Mistake number one.
She took a deep breath.
Focus, Amy. Focus.
"Will I get my bow back if I beat you at chess?" Because everybody knew David Bryant was the best chess player at Barton Hills Elementary School.
Confusion.
"What, like a girl could possibly be better at chess than me?"
"Exactly."
"You're stupid." He considered his options. "Fair enough. I'll win it easily anyway."
Mistake number two. He would see.

He was crying now. Making a fuss. That big sissy.
"You cheated!"
"Sure I did."
"You're a cheater!"
"You can't accept that you lost. Gimme my bow back."
"How could you win? You're a girl!"
Snatch. She had her bow.
"I have good teachers."
With that said, she walked away.
"I'll get my revenge, Jane! I swear on my dead goldfish!"
Right. Like he was smart enough to find a way of beating her at chess.
