Falling in style (how to fly)

Rika blanched as he saw the canister flying towards them. Tear gas! No! That would immobilize them all.

Before he could shout a warning, a bullet sniped the canister, exploding it in high the air and far enough that it wouldn't affect them. Rika didn't have a chance to ponder what had happened before a Mask wielding a halberd attacked. He lifted his hammer just in time to block it.

There was another shot and the Halberd Mask crumpled to the ground, dead.

Rika looked around, watching. It wasn't just a nearby shooter who was helping them. It was a sniper. "It can't be," he whispered to himself. "Yu-chan?"

He felt his heart swell, wondering and hoping. Had Yu-chan somehow overcome the Angel Mask?

Rika rolled out of the way, dodging the swinging fist of the newest Mask that approached: Swimmer Mask. "Tch," Rika said, switching to a defensive position. He could already tell the Swimmer Mask was stronger than average.

He swung his hammer with all his strength, aiming to break the Mask. The Swimmer Mask easily caught the hammer and squeezed, crumbling the iron hammer head with ease.

Rika let go of the hammer, jumping out of the way. The Monk Mask came from the left, only to be caught and throw away like a ragdoll.

"This isn't good," Rika said, throwing a wary glance at the rest of his group. "Get into that building. We'll hold them off!"

'Of course, I say that. But I have no idea how we're going to beat this Swimmer Mask,' Rika thought to himself. 'Please let that be Yu-chan and please let him remember himself.' He was going to need all the help he could find.

As if in answer of his prayers, a powerful beam of energy shot out, breaking the Swimmer Mask. In the distance, the Railgun went off, mirroring the attack, but larger and bigger, destroying a tall building in the distance.

"Whew, made it in time."

Rika turned around to see Yu-chan… Sniper? walking towards them. "Yu-chan?" he asked hesitantly.

Sniper swung his rifle over his shoulder and gave Rika a wave. "It's been awhile, Rika. Yuri sent me."

-.-

Sniper looked around the battlefield. The rooftop garden that had been their final stage was destroyed. Pots were overturned, the plants scorched beyond recognition. Crumbling holes and walls lined the area.

He placed another shot into the dead body of Aikawa, just to ensure that he was indeed dead. Nise followed suit, brandishing a knife with every intention to behead him. He did not judge. Aikawa had been a pain in their side for far too long.

Instead he took the time to find the missing member of the group. He found her in the back corner, cradling Rika's head in her lap.

"Yuri," he said.

She looked at him, tears in her eyes. In a different setting, they would have looked like the loving siblings they were. But there was no hiding the large bloodstain in Rika's abdomen.

'"Hey Sniper. If you had the chance, would you go back in time to save my brother?"
