Ignoring the crew's protests, he'd left the ship that morning.

Snatching a breath, he plunged into an icy pool of water. His body immediately felt like it was made of ice and he started to sink.

His face elongated into a snout, his teeth sharpened and his ears pointed and grew. A tail whipped the water. Claws scrabbled at the current. His spine crunched and he yelped in pain. The transformation was complete.

He cried out - but he wasn't in control.
