Hammerschlag presents: A Very Merry Christmas Special 2017 Episode 3: An Akaneian Nagamas Story.
I'm going with the European release's names here because that's what they were worldwide before FE11 hit the shelves, and that's how they're staying worldwide in my head cannon.
Marth sat at his fireplace gazing at the stars. Nagamas was supposed to be a happy occasion; most of the people of Altea certainly thought so. But not the young prince. No, Marth was quite lonely that night. Shiida was tending to her ailing father in Talys and had insisted for some reason that she go without him. Perhaps her father did not want the prince to see him in his ailing state? It did not matter, Marth was alone. He sighed and left his chambers to go for a melancholic walk through the castle town. The snow was falling hard, but the prince didn't mind; he rather enjoyed the cold, and the sight was truly beautiful. Twice so, however, was that which was absent: his old friend. As he watched the young couples dance under and around the trees, Marth realized he wanted nothing more than to be with Shiida. Not just now, but for all time. He had known about his feelings for her for some time, but never thought he should act on them. He thought the risk it would bring to their friendship was too great, and there were many other women in the court he could consider marrying. But now, as he gazed upon his merry countrymen, he knew how wrong he had been. He marched straight back to the castle, got the fastest of his pegasus knights, and flew with haste to Talys, signet ring in hand.
Shiida sat quietly in her bedchambers watching the hours pass. King Mostyn passed on in his sleep two nights prior, Shiida holding his hand, as she had been for a full day. Tears flowed freely from her eyes as she fully realized that her father was no longer with her. He was the last of her family; she had no shoulders to cry on, no-one to confess secrets to, no one to hold her in times of grief. The Nagamas season was supposed to be one of joy, but all Shiida could feel was sorrow. That was until a Pegasus appeared in the sky and landed right on the balcony. The Princess' eyes lit up as she saw Marth running toward her.
"Shiida, I know you told me to stay away, I know your father wanted to be with you alone, and I know why, but I would not be able to live with myself if I let you suffer this alone," the Prince said as he approached his childhood friend. Shiida responded by running up to him and hugging him as tightly as she could, letting tears pour all over his winter cloak.
"Marth… I'm sorry I kept you away. Please, stay with me now."
"Shiida, you're my best friend… no, you're more than that, and you always have been. I've simply lacked the courage to say so until now," Marth backed away and knelt before his love, and presented his signet ring to her.
"Princess Shiida of Talys, please grant me the honor of being your husband. I will cherish you, now and forever. I can never fill the void your father left, but I promise to do my best to make you happy."
"Oh, Marth, I thought you'd never ask. I accept with all my heart," Shiida responded between sobs and the two embraced, finally finding some glimmer of happiness in as the evening went on.
Yeah, that ending was a bit tripe. I sat on it for a while, but couldn't really think of anything else. Still, I thought the rest of it was alright.
