Dead. Thalia thought bitterly. I should be dead. Why am I not dead? The thoughts continued as she got ready for bed. The hunters have set up camp in North Carolina for a few days, and Thalia was feeling more useless than ever. She hated being a demigod. Motherless, brother taken away for years, Hera wouldn't leave her alone, and she had no father. Well, basically. She spent most of her nights crying as the other hunters slept peacefully. Thalia entered a deep depression, and she was struggling to get out of it. She wished she was a tree. Or even better, she wished to be dead. What's the point? She continued as she absentmindedly shuffled her feet to a cliff. The cold air pinched her skin, and the snow was falling softly, the view from the cliff was truly beautiful, snowcapped mountains, and trees covered in the soft snow. Thalia sat herself at the edge of the cliff, looking at the gorgeous view, the other hunters have fallen asleep. Thalia could finally let out all the pain she burdened on her shoulder for the entire day. She began to sob uncontrollably. Letting years of pain and damage out. Her mother's drinking and abuse, her brother going missing, her mother's death, everything she ever endured. Finally her loud sobs turned into a soft whimper as she hugged her knees. Her eyes red and puffy, her eyeliner smearing down her cheek. There must be a way out.. She considered the ground below her. It was a long way down, it could work... Thalia dangled her legs at the edge of the cliff, and prepared herself to push off.
"You know I'm not going to let you do that" A voice stopped her. Thalia turned around, surprised, to find her father looking down at her. She scowled, she should be grateful, but she found herself angry instead.
"Since when have you ever cared?" She said, disgust dripped in her voice. Zeus sat down on the cliff beside her.
"It may not seem like it, but I always have" He said.
"Then why did you leave me with...her? Why did you take Jason away?" She asked bitterly.
"I knew you were smart enough to find your way to Camp. Hera wouldn't leave you or your mother alone, taking Jason away, was the only way." He said
"Why are you even here?" Thalia asked.
"I am always watching Thalia. I am not going to let you end your life so young."
"Why shouldn't I? I'm just your mistake" She pointed out
"Perhaps. But you've proved everyone wrong. Even Hera."
There was a pause.
"I suck as a father, don't I?" Zeus breaks the silence.
"Yes, but I understand." Thalia confessed
"No, there isn't any excuses for this."
"Whatever" Thalia shrugged
"I'm sorry" He sighed. Thalia blinked a few times, shocked at the sudden apology, she found herself throwing her arms around him before she could think straight. Much to her surprise, he hugged back.
