Circumstances

Death is to overcome all.

Friar Lawrence is a kind old man. His age has not treated him kindly. Time has been just as cruel.

As he sits amidst his herbs he reminisces. The past is what carves the future. It is all pre-determined by fate. For a short moment he wonders what the meaning of it all is. The young Montague and Capulet weren't deserving of what they received.

They were young and foolish, he concedes, but they loved. They were kind souls who wanted happiness. They were obedient to their parents. They were loyal to their friends. They were both to each other. In the craziness of their lives they had one another. It was all that they needed.

He then turns his thoughts elsewhere. His involvement in their affairs could not be ignored. He was pardoned for his involvement. He remembers that day well. That precise moment haunts him. The verdict is against his beliefs.

He regrets his feelings over the decision. The ability to continue his life as it was before is what he tells himself is best. It is his ultimate punishment. He has to continue on. He has dreams of their fate every night. He sees the images of dead people every time he closes his eyes.

To live on after playing a part in so many deaths torments him.

Six faces haunt his dreams forever.

Author's Note: I don't feel very comfort with this fandom. I have so much respect for Shakespeare's work. I assume that has some correlation. I hope I've done the fandom justice. Thank you all for reading. I hope that you enjoyed this piece. I apologise if you are not satisfied.
