DISCLAIMER: I do not own anything related to CSI: NY.
PS: It's kinda short for a fanfic but I got the idea after watching a scene from The Lizzie McGuire Movie. Anyway, Happy New Year and I hope that 2006 will bring you happiness! Cheers to more Danny/Lindsay!
Lindsay never expected her first New Year's Eve in New York to be anything like this. While Montana was quiet and had less fireworks, New York was very different. People were preparing their fireworks and making lots of sounds. People were very excited. There were going to be countdown in various places, including Central Park. Lindsay decided to go there. She likes Central Park. It reminded her of Montana somehow.
So Lindsay was walking along Central Park, watching people waiting for 2006 to come. Most of them sat on the grass; some on the benches. Some were standing. She decided to sit on a bench and wait for New Year. She checked her cell phone. It was 10 minutes before midnight. She sat back and watched people getting ready. She knew that it was going to be a wonderful experience.
Suddenly her view was blocked by a person who so happened to stand in front of her.
"Umm – excuse me," she said. "You're blocking my view."
The person turned around and looked down on Lindsay.
"Danny?"
"Lindsay?"
"What are you doing here?"
Danny looked around. "It's a free country, isn't it?"
Lindsay groaned. "I suppose you want to ask if you could sit next to me?"
"Yup."
Lindsay moved over and Danny sat next to her. He took something out from his pocket. Lindsay saw that it was a packet of M&Ms. Danny eagerly opened them and begun popping several of it into his mouth, chewing them and looking like a little kid who had just been to the toy store.
"Want some?" he asked, offering some to her.
"Sure. Thanks."
She took some and popped them into her mouth.
"So... Montana, this is your first time spending New Year's eve in New York?"
"Yes. And don't call me Montana."
"You know you love it."
Lindsay blushed. She was thankful that it was night time. Danny suddenly got up. So did the other people who were there in Central Park.
"C'mon, the countdown is starting," he said, helping her up.
The people were starting to countdown the seconds to midnight.
"5... 4... 3... 2...1!"
As soon as they said one, the night sky was filled with fireworks. People were clapping and cheering and greeting each other. Bells were ringing. In the distance, maybe someone's blowing a trumpet. Whatever it was, everyone seems to be making noise.
Lindsay was in awe when she saw the fireworks display. They were so beautiful and bright. She felt like a little girl again.
"Wow," she said. "It's beautiful, Danny!"
Danny looked at her and said softly"Yes, you are beautiful."
Lindsay gave him a surprised look and he leaned in to capture her lips with his own. Lindsay once heard that you know that you've found your soul mate if there's fireworks and bells ringing. They're damn right about it. Here she was spending her first New Year in New York; kissing Danny with fireworks in the sky and bells ringing. This year's going to be a fantastic year... She could tell.
THE END
