Esca goodness. I absolutely love the Dilandau/Hitomi pairing... It's an interesting, if fractured, combination.

Note: This fic is AU. Like, they're in high school, on Earth. The Mystic Moon doesn't exist. But their personalities do.

Disclaimer: I don't own Esca. I also don't own the song, it belongs to Good Charlotte. It's from their "Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous" album. Go take a listen.

Bloody Valentine

Oneshot

\\\\\\\

Three rings, then the girl answered. Rain pounded against her windowpane as Hitomi worked on her laptop, scrambling to finish her term paper before the weekend was over.

Oh my love, please don't cry

I'll wash my bloody hands and we'll start a new life...

"It's almost midnight, Dilandau. What's up?"

I ripped out his throat

And called you on the telephone to

Take off my disguise

Just in time to hear you cry

When you mourn the death

Of your bloody valentine

The night he died

"Hitomi, it's Van..."

A near silent choke on the other line.

"He's... he's dead." A pause as he have Hitomi a minute to let it soak in. "I'm so sorry..."

You mourn the death

Of your bloody valentine

One last time, singin'

As tears made their way down Hitomi's face, Dilandau started to sing softly into the receiver, shielding his cell from the rain.

"Oh my love, please don't cry

I'll wash my bloody hands and we'll start a new life

I don't know much at all

I don't know wrong from right

All I know is that I love you tonight

"Hitomi, hold on, Stay on the phone with me, I'll be over in five minutes." He was sure he hadn't heard his quiet tenor voice over the thunder and the trembling noise of the storm outside. He opened his car door, slamming it shut as soon as he was in his sleek black sedan. Dilandau turned the engine over, watching the headlights' reflection off of the torrential downpour outside as he pulled the clutch into 'drive'.

There was police and flashing lights

The rain came down so hard that night

And the head lines read "A Lover Died:

No Tell-Tale Heart Was Left to Find"

Hitomi's hands shook as she opened the front door and stepped out into the pouring rain as the handsome albino's jet-black Toyota rolled up her driveway. Within seconds she stood in lounge pants and a tank top, soaked to the bone, as salty tears mingled with the rainwater on her face, dripping from her hair.

"He's... gone..."

You mourn the death

Of your bloody valentine

The night he died

You mourn the death

Of your bloody valentine

One last time, singin'

Dilandau walked across the distance of her lawn, resting his hand on her shoulder as soon as he reached her. Both ignored the bucketfuls of aqua being thrown down at the earth as Hitomi leaned into Dilandau's leather jacket, the boy wrapping his arms around her, muttering small reassurances into her ear, whispering almost unintelligibly.

"Oh my love, please don't cry

I'll wash my bloody hands and we'll start a new life

I don't know much at all

I don't know wrong from right

All I know is that I love you tonight..."
