She actually saved them, but why? Their options were gone. Why not let the demon side win?
Ruby—her name is Ruby. The word burns at the edges of his mind, a name too earthbound for a demon, like Janice or Daniel or Bob.
Or even Dean.
"I remember what it's like," she'd said, "being human," and God, he didn't—couldn't have—why did she have to tell him?
A year ago, all demons were evil and Dean killed them without thinking twice.
Today he learned there are layers and degrees, and worse yet: someday, the demon could be him.
