Adrian got home after a long day. Trudy was there (obviously) and she was smiling.
"Hey honey," she told him, "I got you a gift online"
He frowned only slightly.
"It wasn't a long line was it?"
Trudy laughed not noticing his attempt at seriousness.
"Adrian," she said, "I mean the internet"
"Oh man do I feel dumb," he said, "I'm sorry honey"
She just shrugged it off. She handed him a gift-wrapped package.
"What's in it," he asked her
"You'll see when you open it," she told him patiently.
He did open it very carefully. It was a jacket that came out to just above the belt-line.
"I love it," he said, "but why is it so short"
Trudy laughed again. That sound was magical to Adrian.
"Adrian I've seen the way you take off your jacket. First you take off one sleeve, smooth it out so that it doesn't get wrinkled, take off another sleeve, smooth that one out so it doesn't get wrinkled then you unbutton on button at a time. By the time you're done half the time the person you're 'dealing with' is like "yeah see ya… or not".
"With this jacket you don't even have to take your jacket off to get to what you need"
He broke into a wide grin. Trudy was always thinking about him. She was always thinking about what was in his best interest. That jacket was all kinds of wrong but it was perfect for him.
The next day he went to work wearing that jacket.
"Monk," Leland asked, "Do I even want to know?"
"Trudy gave me the jacket," Monk explained.
"I see"
"She got it online… the internet not an actual line"
Leland chuckled.
"I know what you mean Monk," he said
"It was really sweet," Monk said and explained the story behind it.
Ironically that day the jacket Trudy gave him saved his life. A guy was shooting at him and he managed to get his gun just in the nick of time.
