Byakuya lay in his bed. It was the anniversery of that day. That day is the day when his beloved was taken away from him, the day when he thought his life ended. The day when Hisana was stolen from this world. He thought that it would last forever, he thought that with his protection and money, she could never be ripped away from him. Yet, here he was, lying down in the very bed he once shared with his wife, the bed where he lay, asleep, next to her. She would be in his arms, once again, under his protection, and now she was gone.

Byakuya shut his eyes, moisture behind his lids. He didn't want to wake up the next day, for she was the only thing he ever woke up for. He didn't want to go to work, for she was the only thiing he worked for. He didn't want to come home from work, for she was the only thing he ever came home for. All he ever wanted was to sleep, that way he wouldn't feel anything, nor see anything, nor remember her laughing face.

Hisana used to stay up all night, and wait for him to come home. She used to gently wake him up in the mornings. She used to smile at him, and brighten up his day. What was left of that now? Nothing was left. There was nothing to look forward to anymore. He knew he had turned into a robot, he knew he was acting like an ice-cube. He did that so that no one could ever leave him again.

His parents had left him, his best friends had left him, his grandfather had left him, and now his beloved was no longer by his side. He was now the ice-cube s that he could no longer hurt anyone, so that he could no longer be hurt.

He was still picking up the pieces of a shattered heart, trying to reform the heart he once had, long, long, ago.
