Hop Step Jump

Ikuto lowered himself to the ground, putting down Amu on the sidewalk for the second time that evening. "Hop, Step, Jump."

"What?"

"Isn't that what you get to say every time you want to fly?"

"What about it?"

"I just thought it was cute. It's your heart persona, right?"

"Cute!? Stay away from me, pervert!"

"Why? I like being close to you." Ikuto leaned closer, smiling a bit, tilting his head down at the girl standing in front of him.

Amu blushed and took a step back, blinking. "W-wha…?" She struck out with her arms to push him away, only to trip on her feet in her embarrassment. Ikuto caught her easily in a sweeping motion, making her even more flustered.

"One question then," he said, not putting her down.

"Wh-what do you want? Let me go…" Amu said in a faint voice, while staring straight back at him.

"How come I have to catch you every time you fall?" Ikuto's face took on a deadpan, neutral expression as he leaned in, blowing a bit in her ear. "Your power must be really bad if you can't even save yourself."

"…" Amu's eyes widened before she brought her hand up and slapped him across the cheek before struggling to get down, blushing furiously, staring angrily at him.

"…eh?" Ikuto held his cheek, rubbing it a bit. "That hurt."

"IDIOT!" Amu shouted before turning around and running the other way.

Ikuto just stood there, looking after her. "Ah…" Then he shrugged. "Let's go, Yoru."

"Yaay! Let's get some fish dumplings!" Yoru swirled around, grinning. "Ne, Ikuto, you chased her away again. Whyyy?"

Ikuto just smiled and patted Yoru's head. "It's nothing."

Suddenly, another yell of surprise came from the other way and Ikuto glanced down the direction she ran off to. "Huh?" Yoru followed his gaze, then looked back at Ikuto, as the young man turned forward again and continued his walk.

"Heh."

Yoru blinked and followed. "Hm? Ikuto? What's wrong? Nee, Ikuto, tell meee…!" Yoru whined, but he got no answer.

Fin.

To be honest, I haven't written anything plausible in almost two years, as this is something I've just started over with, trying to find some sort of fiction muse again. I'm happy for constructive critizism even though it's just a short drabble. Hope you enjoyed it.
