When
it came down to it, they stood together. When it was the end, they
stood together.
So sure, Sasori was already gone, and Tobi was no replacement in Deidara's heart.
And Kakuzu and Hidan will hate each other until and past the end of time, but they'll hold each other's back.
Itachi slaughtered everyone he'd loved, but Kisame still thinks he's got a heart. Will still take a blow for him.
Sure, Zetsu would eat them all given the chance, but he hasn't yet, so it's all good. You can't be a mass murdering half-plant spy and not have quirks. As Sasori had put it, once upon a time, "He can't help it. It's in his nature."
And so at the end, facing down Konoha and Sand and all the enemies they'd accumulated across the years, they stand together. Side by side. Knowing they won't survive, but hell YEAH it's going to be a fight fit for history, un.
Deidara calls Tobi an idiot, and Kakuzu and Hidan argue, and Itachi stares emotionlessly into the wave of his former comrades.
One last time. For the memories. For Sasori. For us.
