Esme POV
I was outside working on weeding the flowerbeds when I heard Edward puttering around on his piano. I put down my tools and stood up to listen better. It didn't sound like the pieces he regularly played. It sounded more like the music Bella listened to. I was trying to remember if I'd heard it when his humming gradually got louder and changed into singing. It wasn't loud but it was beautiful all the same. What was even more breathtaking were the words he sang.
"I tried to read between the lines.
I tried to look into your eyes.
I want a simple explanation
For what I'm feeling insideā¦"
I listened harder now, trying to memorize the words. Edward had always sung songs that meant something to him and I was trying to find out what he saw in this one. His voice was still soft but held all the power of someone belting it out as loud as they could. I stood still, continuing to listen to him sing.
"Your voice was the
Soundtrack of my summer
Do you know you're unlike any other?
You'll always be my thunder.
And I said, your eyes
Are the brightest of all the colors
I don't wanna ever love another
You'll always be my thunder"
His voice trailed off, settling back down into soft, melodious hum. I thought about his song on my way to the shed. What could he mean by this song? What was important to him? Those last two lines, 'I don't wanna ever love another, you'll always be my thunder', could this be about Bella? Yes, of course, it made perfect sense. I passed Edward and his piano on my way back in side. I smiled and thought, 'That was beautiful Edward.' He grinned back at me.
Authors Note: Do you like the idea? Send me a review. I'm planning on doing a chapter for each character, all from Esme's POV. Thanks a bunch! Painter
