One of the things I've learned about girls? They like to feel smart. Even the not-so-smart ones, they like to feel like they're the smarter half of a couple. From the moment I saw the sparking pendant around her neck, I knew she was my mermaid. But, as the days passed, I came to realize: she wanted to make me figure it out on my own.
