A/N: Response to Prompt 18 on Tammy Drabbles site

Her Expressions

It began with a hint of a smile

So empty and coy

And yet it lit up my day

Slowly she opened up

And a true smile appeared

Brightening her face

As time goes by

She can't help

But sigh muffled sighs

And cast longing glances

Soon, those glances

Turn into a kiss

Soft and quick

Upon my cheek

Late one night

I remember that kiss

And I smile

For she is becoming more

Then my friend

I find her in the gardens across the pathway

Staring at the stars

Walking over to her, I quickly kiss her lips

And I flee

She finds me in the hallway

And in the shadow

She kisses me

True and sweet

As the years come and go

I remember her

And how we fell in love

My lover became my wife

But now she lies dying

Tears in her eyes

Like the stars she saw in the gardens

I sit by her side, holding her hand

It ended with a smile

Upon her pale face

And I grieved that day

For she loved me

Even with the subtle, hidden smile

Hints of mirth

Bright smile

Longing glances

Kiss upon my cheek

Kiss upon her lips

Tears in her eyes

Her expressions

Told me all I needed

To hear

To see

To feel

They told me:

"I love you"
