Hey! I know I am traditionally a twilight fanfictioner, but I've been experimenting with this. Hope you like it!
Chapter 1
"Skulduggery, where the heck are we going?" Valkyrie asked, shuffling along after Skulduggery. He had dragged her along in the Bentley to this wood in the middle of nowhere. Of course, Valkyrie was used to being taken to places in the middle of nowhere, and this was no different.
"Soon." he muttered. He would probably furrow his eyebrows, but of course, he was a skeleton, so alas (!) no eyebrows. He had taken Valkyrie out to this remote forest. And she didn't like it one bit.
They reached a clearing and the reason was clear. There was a girl, around Tanith's age, and she was dressed in a long silver cape, that covered everything. Even Skulduggery, who prided himself on good eyesight, wouldn't have seen her if it wasn't for the full moon that shone down on her cloak, illuminating the reflective, metallic fibers.
"A most auspicious time, if I do say so myself." Her voice rang out loud and true among the silver-washed trees. "Skulduggery. Long time, no see. Not that you'd ever want to see me, of course. You must be desperate, to come see me. We always know something, normally before China. If China doesn't know, then you're kind of stuffed, if you really didn't want to see us." She spoke in a voice that was like a cloudy jewel, beautiful, but shrouded with emotion.
"Us?" Valkyrie whispered.
"Yes. Us." The... tree (?) answered. Two figures dropped down, moving in sync. They both were encased in cloaks that miraculously stayed closed when they jumped. One had black with white edges, the other had white with black edges, and they both were wearing oversize sunglasses in their colour scheme, even though it was the middle of the night.
"What do you want?" One of them asked Skulduggery.
"It's okay, I already know. They don't just want information, they need a favor, isn't that right, Skulduggery?" The silver one said. Skulduggery nodded slightly.
"But, that would cost a lot..." One started, completely forgetting their guests.
"The finances are taken care of. Don't worry." The silver one spoke. "Oh, I am sorry, I have introduced us yet. The white one is Kai Lightsun, and the black one is Lynna Darkmoon. I'm Mykiya. I believe you haven't introduced your apprentice, skeleton. Although I think I know her. Valkyrie Cain, aka Stephanie Edgely, aka Darquesse. Am I right?"
Valkyrie nodded stiffly, then asked Skulduggery, "What is she? An Adept or Elemental?"
The silver lady whipped around, her long, curly brown hair following her, almost yelled, "I am both, yet neither. I am stuck in this forever period, just before the surge, and hopelessly trying to keep a hold on myself. For the good of everything, including my sanity."
Love you guys!
