Justifiably Jealous?

A One-Shot by Tifa Tyndal

Disclaimer: As usual I don't own the show Inuyasha... that is, besides the eight-plus tapes I recorded it on.

Summery: Jealousy is rarely justified. However, in some cases, it certainly seems to be.

Spoiler Warning: Know who the main characters are and get past the first... oh, three episodes and you're fine.

Inuyasha never thought of Sango as jealous of Kagome.

But, as usual Inuyasha was rather dense. He didn't even stop to consider that Sango may have been jealous of the fact that Kagome still had a little brother or that she still had a mom. He definitely didn't think that she could have been jealous of Kagome liking a guy that was not a lecher. He didn't think that maybe the fact that Kagome could get out of this world when the going got rough and be received by a loving family something that Sango wished she had. No, Inuyasha really was dense.

However, there was one thing that Inuyasha didn't miss. It was late one night and Inuyasha was performing his usual task of staying up all night watching his friends sleep. He checked over each of his friends one by one.

Kagome, sleeping soundly in the strange bag-like thing. Check.

Shippo, cuddled in Kagome's arms snoring. Check.

Miroku, leaning up against a tree muttering something in his sleep about pretty ladies. Check.

Sango, sleeping against Kirara. Che-

Something caught Inuyasha's precise hearing. Sango, who normally slept so soundly, was groaning and mumbling. It didn't take a genius to figure out that Sango was dreaming.

Inuyasha just about shrugged it off and went back to staring at Kagome when a angry grunt emitted from a certain demon-slayer. Inuyasha didn't miss the deep frown that passed over her face or the way she wrinkled her eyebrows in frustration. Nor did he fail to hear the angry words that she said ever so clearly in her sleep.

"Miroku...sit."

Finally Inuyasha didn't miss the pleasant turn that the dream seemed to take, the way Sango seemed to settle down into deeper sleep, or the smile of satisfaction that stayed on Sango's face for the rest of the night.

Inuyasha had never thought of Sango as jealous of Kagome. But, after considering it, maybe she was.

So there you have it! Possibly one of the shortest one-shots I've written. It all stemmed from the thought that a rosary for Miroku would actually be really nice... for Sango at least. Anyway, I hope you enjoyed it! -The Author
