The monster inside

Disclaimer- I own nothing

Vlad was never the same after facing his refection. Erin knew he would be different even before he returned. "How can it ever be over" those words rang in head, over and over again. She would never forget them. They were a conformation of truth she did want to be real. The side of him, the monster would always be there just beneath the surface, waiting for the right time to break free.

When came back seemed darker but still the Vlad she knew. She had though it was strange that he hadn't come to see her. Then he risked his father life to test Mina's mind wipe.

"The old Vlad would never have done this"

Those words, she remembered speaking them as if it were only yesterday. They were test. He had asked her to trust him and did. Though deep down she felt something wasn't right she had pushed it aside. She chose to trust him.

As the days went by she noticed things, small things. Seemly insignificant things. He was more confident and held an air of authority around himself. It bothered Erin the more she thought about it. His gaze lingered on her a little too long to often. Sometimes when she caught his eyes what she saw was not love and affection but hunger. It happened more and more as time went on. He spoke peace and worked hard to setup the ceasefire and truce. No one noticed he was fighting a losing battle. She had thought about leaving but she couldn't.

"Trust me"

"OK"

It had been one simple word but she couldn't go back on it. In the last days of her human life his refection had taken full control when they were alone. It had only been for moment and all he did was stare at her blankly. He had made no more to bite her. She had known for a while it was only a matter of time before this would happen. If she were wiser she would left. Instead she stayed.

He turned her when she told him to let her. For that she may have forgiven him in time but there was more to it than that. He claimed he did it because she was dying. It wasn't that either. No Erin knew Vladimir Dracula, she could tell when he was lying. He did it because the monster won. He wanted too. For that she could never forgive him.

He spoke of peace and coexistence. She didn't doubt that there was time when he wanted nothing more but that time had passed.
