Remember

Night had fallen at Control Central. Motherboard and Antoine, now married for 6 years, were watching The Lion King on the couch with their son, Christopher Andrew Klemmons, aka Chip. He had his father's eyes and his skin bore the faintest hue of blue, lighter than that of his mother. A mop of cobalt blue hair covered his head. Aside from some slight differences, he bore a strong resemblance to his mother. So far, he was turning out to be a quiet, thoughtful boy, with a deep intellect that far surpassed his age. He was still a child though, but it seemed as if there was something new for him to read about each day. He'd babble to his parents about the latest fact he had learned from his children's encyclopedia and it filled them both with pride to see Chip so eager to learn about the world around him. Right now though, he was fast asleep, curled up in Motherboard's lap.

He'd tried his very hardest to stay awake, but by the time Simba had begun to live with Timon and Pumbaa, that's when he had gone out. Now Rafiki was tormenting Simba and Motherboard wanted to turn off the movie and take Chip to bed, but she couldn't resist gently stroking his hair and cooing over how adorable he looked when he was asleep. Antoine smiled at the sight. These were the moments he found her most beautiful, when her maternal instincts came shining through.

As Mufasa's ghost approached Simba, an idea came to Motherboard. She carefully shifted Chip into a gentle embrace, careful not to wake him. Mufasa's ghost began to speak and she held her son close. "Remember who you are...You are my son..." she whispered to him, gentle pride in her words. She smiled as she whispered the rest of the words, still stroking his hair. Antoine was watching with a loving smile. He scooted closer. "He's so handsome, isn't he?" she murmurred softly to Antoine. "Yes he is. I told you you'd make a good mother," he replied. "Shall we take him to bed?" Motherboard smiled and grunting slightly, stood up with Chip on her shoulder. "I'll take him. You can put the movie away," she said. Antoine nodded, fetching the case from off of the coffee table.

Motherboard carried Chip down the hallway and into his bedroom. She lifted the blankets and gently tucked him in. Chip stirred and opened his eyes. "Is the movie over?" he asked tiredly. "No, you just fell asleep. We can finish watching it tomorrow if you'd like," she said warmly, brushing his blue bangs out of his face. "I had a nice dream Mama. I don't remember most of it, but you were whispering to me about remembering who I was and that I was your son," he said. Motherboard smiled warmly. "I was whispering to you Chip. I wanted to let you know that you will always be my son. Don't you ever forget that, okay?" He smiled sleepily. "Okay Mama. 'Night." Motherboard smiled. "Good night, Chip." She walked out of the room and shut the door.
