A/N: This might be sad.

"I'll love you till I die," Kowalski stood on the shore as Doris floated in the blue ocean. He tried to hold in his tears, tried to stop his breaking heart. Doris turned her back to him.

"You'll forget in time," Her voice came out cold and apathetically. The scientist broke down just then in the sand and she swam away, not turning back. He just sat there, sobbing and getting the sand embedded into his feathers. The team had to go searching for him since he had no motivation to move any muscle in his body.

After they got him back to HQ, Skipper stared at the broken scientist.

"Kowalski, you need to wash up and get back up on your feet. You need to forget her," He looked up at the leader, eyes rimmed red and nodded slowly.

The tall penguin took a shower, washed off the sand and tears. He stood up straight and proud. He looked good as new and Skipper was proud that he had gotten over her quickly. But he hadn't.

As the years went slowly by, she still preyed upon his mind. Every thought he had, every dream he dreamt. It was about her. He kept her pictures on his wall. They covered the whole lab. They were pictures of all the happy times they had. The pictures where she smiled and was happy with him.

He went crazy now and then, trying to invent love machine after love machine that could make her love him again. They all failed miserably and he would go into his lab, raging over why science wasn't helping him. He even resorted to asking what ever higer being there was to bring her back to him. He cried everyday without her. His heart ached and he didn't understand why she'd hurt him so bad. He still loved her through it all.

Sometimes, on his most miserable of nights, he'd travel all the way to the beach where she left him, and waited. He'd wait and wait, hoping she'd come back again.

It's been years since then, and I'm looking at him now. He looks so peaceful and happy. First time I'd seen him smile in years. He stopped loving her today. We all went to the beach where it all started, where he had lost her, and my son had spotted something jumping in the sea. He jumped up and down at the silhouette.

"Daddy! It's a dolphin," I patted him on the head and looked out and saw her floating there, staring at him. Skipper, Rico and I all wondered if she'd come. And she did. Years and years had past since Kowalski had last been in Doris' presence, and I was surprised to see him not even respond to her tearful embrace.

Now, as we lay him to rest, it keeps running through my mind that this time, he was over her for good. He kept to his word. He said he'd love her until he died. He did. He kept her in his thoughts, his dreams, his heart until his faithful day. He's no longer tortured by a love unrequited. He's no longer suffering between the hardest thing and the right thing. He stopped loving her today.

A/N: So... Sad right? Based off a song called "He Stopped Loving Her Today" by George Jones. It's one of the saddest songs I have on my playlist.

Reason for writing this? Because I think that this love Kowalski has for Doris is played for laughs (And I admit, it can be funny), he's probably so sad and going through so much emotionally. Or at least, that's in my POM world.

Please, just leave a review. I'd appreciate it.
