Iris
There were multiple fragments, multiple lives where they meet and where they don't.
One time, it was when the Earth was so much younger, the dawn of the roman empire.
She is a priestess of some roman god he doesn't know about. He is a greek slave.
They hate their guts at the beginning: Beatrice is a spoiled and arrogant brat and how the hell Battler can ever be a name?
But they end up loving each other nonetheless; they don't have the chance to be together, though. Battler gets killed in a civil riot, while trying to protect her.
And she ends up alone, again.
There is another fragment where she is accused to be a witch and he is the one who did it.
He finds her in a old house where she lives all alone.
She gets killed by the another inquisitor, because Battler can't do it.
Beatrice's last words are his name.
The last fragment is the most fragile and most beautiful one.
She kills his family, claiming to be a witch. He doesn't awknowledge her as it.
They fight with truths and Battler doesn't get what she's desperately trying to tell him: when he does, it's too late. She just disappears, leaving him alone.
He never noticed the shackles that tied her to the game until now and he wants to help her, but he can't.
He puts flowers and jewels in her chains, but at the end of the day it's him who kills her. It's him who puts an end to her heart.
And she's happy of this because she loves him, she loves him, she loves him so much that it damn hurts.
Love is actually like water: she drowns in it.
And when they're finally together, at the depths of the abyss, they aren't sad; they have the most important thing with them.
Each other.
