"Where are you going?" Naruto asked, stepping up behind Sasuke as his friend stood on the path leading out of Konoha.

"I'm leaving." Sasuke didn't turn around.

Naruto felt his pulse quicken in his chest, his eyes widening. "W-what? Why?"

Sasuke turned his head to the side, his hair hiding his face from view. "I need power if I'm going to ever kill my brother. And I will never find that power in Konoha."

Naruto took a step forward. "Please, don't go, Sasuke-kun! I can help you-"

As he reached his hand out to touch his friend's shoulder, Sasuke whirled around on him, drawing a kunai and holding it against the blonde's neck. "All you'd do is slow me down."

Naruto froze. "Sasuke. Don't do this."

The Uchiha shoved Naruto to the ground, stepping away. "You aren't worth my time, anyways." He continued down the path, going farther and farther from Naruto's reach, eventually vanishing into the darkness…

Naruto jolted awake, breathing hard. He paused, taking in his surroundings. Then, he inhaled deeply. 'It's just a dream,' he told himself. 'That didn't actually happen. Sasuke fought his desire for power, turned down Orochimaru's offer. He's fine.'

Naruto rolled over.

Lying in the bed next to him was the object of his trouble and affection. Sasuke was still asleep, oblivious to Naruto's sudden awakening; his chest rose and fell as he inhaled and exhaled gently.

Naruto reached out, stroking Sasuke's cheek. His hand lingered and the raven-haired man's eyes fluttered open. "Mm? Naruto?" Sasuke groaned sleepily.

Naruto retracted his hand. "Sorry, I didn't mean to wake you."

Sasuke yawned, sitting up. He studied Naruto's face carefully. "Is something wrong, Naruto-kun?"

Naruto grinned, kissing Sasuke. "No. I'm just glad you stayed with me."
