What was the definition of fall? There was exactly two definitions to fall, maybe there was more or less, the first definition would be the season of the falling of the leaves. Another word, could be Autumn, but she had much preferred Fall.
It was her favourite season. The yellows, reds and oranges of the leaves, falling down onto the ground in such a beautiful manner. The crunch of each leaf beneath her footsteps was satisfying to hear as she listened to the music of the trees in it's state of defeat.
She didn't like fall because everything was dying, but because it was the signal to a new era. That even though everything had fell, it would be born again in a matter of time. Not only that, but Fall was the season in which she had, well, cornily enough, fallen.
And that's where the second definition of fall comes in. Which in this case, was the act of tumbling or dropping to a place lower than when you were. She liked to believe in the metaphor, falling in love, because it seemed so romantic. The girl thought she would have fell in love in a more romantic season, like winter or summer, the seasons of cuddling beneath the warmth of a fireplace or the season of sharing ice cream together on a hot day in which it was forty degrees.
But like always, her life had taken an unexpected turn and wanted her to be in love of the season of dying. Romantic? Very. In truth, fall had started to become her favourite word already. She hadn't had a favourite word before, but it had taken the place of becoming it. In fact, both definitions of fall had already did.
She only looked back at him because she couldn't hear the sound of him running any longer. She had seen him running when she walked past him, and wondering why he had stopped, she turned to look at him to look at him one last time. She had stood, very still. Staring at the boy in the scarf, waiting for him to reply as he stared back at her.
Each party were both frozen in place, just staring at each other in between the hall of the trees of fall. It was beautiful, this moment in time, the frame that she could and just had wanted to catch and remember for the rest of her life. It was a moment shared between the both of them, a secret that both people wouldn't share and she liked to keep it that way.
Even if none of them had said a word, they didn't need any as the silence had spoken for them. She clutched her bag, breathing softly as the winds had spoken for the both of them. The boy opened his mouth to speak, but he realised he didn't need words to capture her attention and shut his mouth again.
As she clutched her bag once more, she hesitantly took a step forward to wherever Fall would take her. But she knew that even though she hadn't caught his name, she would meet him again some day. And when that day would come, she knew that would lead to something even more than friendship.
Short, but I hope that you enjoy. :3
