This is my drabble entry for the 'Forbidden Relationship Competition' in HPFC. My pairing was Severus/Hannah and it was teacher/student pairing.

Hope you like it ;)

IMAGINATION

Severus Snape was not the sort of person who changed his opinions on somebody. If he liked someone, then he would always like them. If he hated someone, he would always hate them. He wouldn't say he hated his students, but he certainly disliked the majority of them. They were all so chipper and cheerful, and it bugged him. Cheerfulness would not earn a good grade in Potions.

It was when the fifth year Hufflepuffs and Ravenclaws flooded into his classroom and took their seats that he had to grab hold of the table for support and try to shake feelings and images from his mind.

Lily.

At first glance, he had thought he'd been looking at her again. He'd thought that the girl whom he loved was there once more; young, happy, eager to learn.

It wasn't until he blinked a couple of times that he noticed it wasn't Lily standing before him. He knew who it was, and it sickened him that she looked so similar to her. The eyes, the smile, the hair. He felt the urge to take her hand, to tell her how beautiful she was, to tell her he loved her.

But he knew that she was a student. She wasn't Lily. He knew his thinking was wrong and disgusting, but they looked so much the same that he didn't care. If he could have somebody as similar to Lily as possible, then that was as good as he was going to get...

She's a student, he thought. Think. This is insane.

"Abbott," he said sharply, drawing her attention to him.

"Yes, sir?"

"I am disgusted that you choose to come to school sporting hair that ridiculous colour. Anybody would think you were a Weasley. 50 house points from Hufflepuff."

"But-" she tried to protest.

"-And I presume your hair will be back to its normal colour by tomorrow?"

"Y-yes, sir," she said, staring at him with pure hatred.

He continued the lesson, avoiding thinking about or looking at Hannah Abbott. She was too tempting, and that scared him. He didn't want her to change her hair colour back, but with red hair it was just too much for him. He wanted to stare at her and see the beautiful girl he had known so many years ago, but it was too wrong. He couldn't.

When he passed Abbott in the corridors a couple of days later, with her hair back to its usual blonde colour, he felt a surge of happiness rise through him when he realised that she bore no resemblance to Lily at all.

Thank Merlin, he thought to himself, as he ventured back to his office and tried to forget everything he'd felt a couple of days ago.

It was just your imagination.
