Chapter 1

Oh my gods! Chiron was being so ridiculous. He always had some kind of secret to keep from me. Why he couldn't tell me; I had absolutely no idea. All I knew was that it had something to do with me and one of the creatures/gods in our world. Yeah, that really narrowed it down.

I was so alone at the dinner table. My brother Tyson was down at the bottom of the sea working with our dad, Poseidon. Yeah, you heard me right. Poseidon, the real Olympian. I'm a demi-god, pretty much meaning that I'm half god. But enough of that.

I still couldn't figure out why he wouldn't tell me. He'd probably told Annabeth. That got me to thinking. Everyone—well only I—knows that I can get anything out of her.

It was later that night and I was dragging her across the lawn out to the tree that held the Golden Fleece. She was screaming "Seriously Percy! Where are we going?" Finally when we got there I leaned against the tree.

"You have to tell me what you and Chiron know that I don't". If she didn't I would be furious.

"I-I, but, umm", now her face was just inches from mine. "I really d-don't," then she suddenly smashed her face against mine. She lightened up. After a little while she pulled back and said 'think about it", then ran off to go talk with her friends.

Last night had been a dream. Had Annabeth really…? I can't even say it. How could that have been real? No ones life is that great. I almost never got what I wanted. I just couldn't get over it. Should I go talk to her? Or should I just ignore it? I could as Grover for help, even though I have no idea why he would know how to deal with any of this stuff. But I guess it was the smartest idea, so I figured I would talk to him later.

I went on with my daily activities. Archery in the morning though I knew I was hopeless. I took a little break then had lunch. Off to sword fighting. As much moving around and fighting I had to do, it seemed to relax me. Or so I thought. I got in suited up and grasped Riptide from my pocket. Riptide was my pen, well my sword really. When you take the cap off it stretches out to a long blade. And get his: no matter where I go it always comes back to my pocket. But who can think about that when the girl who just kissed you is standing right before your eyes?

Her beautiful gray eyes connected with mine. She started walking over to me and suddenly froze. "Ready to fight?" she questioned.

"Um, yah, I guess", I responded. As the fight went on my mind traveled farther and farther away from the fight. Finally I collapsed.

"Percy! What happened?" she ran over to me.

"Well yesterday when I asked you about Chiron and well, you….' I replied slowly.

She stood there thinking for a second. "Oh, that. Sorry to spring that on you. I just wanted you to know…"

"Me too", I cut her off. "I really like you too". Together, we stood in silence before anything happened. She turned toward me and embraced my in a hug. I hugged back. It felt good, so natural. That's when Grover came. She pulled back but was still holding my hand. "Hey, Percy! Did you g…?" He had noticed me and Annabeth.
