Chapter 1: What in Io's name is going on?
There was a baby cry in the Unseen University, a couple actually, but not one of the faculty knew why someone would bring their own children into the university without informing someone.
'All right, all right, calm down. I said SHUT IT!' The arch chancellor was not at all happy, there was no way people would bring seventeen babies to a wizard's university, it's too unhygienic.
'Thank you. Now what are we goin' to do about these children? And where is the dean?'
The bursar, whose sanity was literally falling downwards at the speed of light, had enough sense to point at the baby with big ears and red hair.
The baby gave Ridcully one look before bawling his head off. Soon there was a choir of baby screams and the remainder of the staff were holding their fingers in their ears.
'Would someone please shut them up. Where's Mrs Whitlow?' The baby in Mrs Whitlow's clothes stopped crying and begun to giggle. 'Senior Wrangler?' The baby next to her also stopped crying and gave the staff an intelligent look.
'The librarian?' The baby that stood out the most had orange fur all around its body and enormous brown eyes and blinked at Ridcully before saying
'Eek!' The remainder of the staff collapsed into chairs and some found themselves sucking their thumbs.
Ridcully opened his mouth but only managed to say, 'Oh oh!'
Rincewind awoke to hear the sound of baby cries and found himself getting up, dressed and heading to the staff room where he was astonished to see the room full of baby wizards, servants and one orang-utan.
He begun to search every area of the university and found only babies.
He went outside to find Modo the gardener in hopes that he wasn't the only adult in the whole university. But he was too late, the dwarf was also a baby, he looked outside to see nearly the whole population were babies.
'What in Io's name is going on?' he cried out.
Obviously, it was true; no one liked him in this universe.
