Star Fox: The New Recruit
Okay, so this is my first story… I've done stories before, but never fanfictions. Just originals. I am going to need a LOT of encouragement in continuing this because I'm a huge procrastinator and it's very difficult and frustrating for me to try to keep a fanfiction going with internet only at my grandma's and all the things I have going on. So forgive me if I don't update in awhile. Anyway! On with the story!
Luna stepped onto the Cornerian base, her paws flexing. It was so good to be to the planet she had only heard stories about. The young white tigress's frosty eyes glittered with excitement as she followed General Pepper's lead to her room. He had been explaining the schedule the entire time, but she had only gotten bits and pieces of the explanation; partly because of the tempo of his voice and partly because she was marveling at the sights around her.
General Pepper abruptly halted, causing Luna to nearly crash into him. "This is your room," he stepped aside to let her in.
She blinked. "Wow… it's nothing like I thought it'd be." She said, unable to hide the bit of disappointment in her eyes.
"This is a military base, dear. It's nothing like the pampered soldier's life you received in the Arnox system."
The Arnox system had been Luna's home before. She had been a soldier there as well. Until she was shipped away from her home planet Kalran. There had been a difference in the life there as a soldier. Her mattress was filled with feathers, much to Jayson's, the Kalrani army's jay bird, disagreement. His mattress had been plain. The soldiers had a pampered, easygoing life there. Not many dared bother the Kalrans. Here, the room was plain and the mattress looked hard and uninviting.
Luna nodded, breaking out of her flashback. "Yes sir."
"Well. Get settled in and I shall see you for dinner then!" General Pepper clapped the tigress on her shoulder before turning out of the soldiers' quarters and to his own.
Luna was left to herself. She began to unpack and when she finished, walked out of the room, as it was almost dinnertime. On the way there, she crashed into a blue feathered bird, who narrowed his eyes. "Watch where you're going!" he hissed.
She immediately stood and apologized to the soldier. "Sorry," she dipped her head, embarrassment creeping up on her.
"You'd better be. I have a good mind to-"
"Falco!" a ginger colored fox appeared suddenly, his paws on his hips.
"Yes Fox?" he turned to face the commanding officer, glaring daggers through him.
"You ought to be ashamed of yourself, treating this newcomer so lowly." Fox stared right back, unphased by his comrade's hostility.
Falco blinked apologetically and dipped his head with respect. "I apologize."
Luna nodded. "It's alright." She sighed and her shoulders slumped visibly.
Fox stepped up to her and held out a paw, and the young tigress shook it.
"Fox McCloud, leader of the Star Fox team. General Pepper told me you're to be working with us?"
She nodded respectfully. "I am. And I'm Luna... Luna Tigris."
"Nice to meet you Luna," Fox smiled and put a friendly arm around her shoulder, although it appeared the gesture was nothing more than one of friendship. "Why don't you come down to dinner with Falco and I?" he shot Falco a death glare as the bird began to protest. He could already see the two and their future of bickering.
Short, I know, but more is on the way!
