"Stay down! It's coming this way!" A handsome brunette ordered, pulling her down on the ground with him in his strong arms.
(From what she was able to gather, she and the handsome brunette were in some kind of a jungle.)
He looked extremely worried and frightened of whatever was out there. She didn't know what it was, and she didn't want to find out either.
As if reading her mind, the scene changed to a different one.
"Prue! Give me your hand!" A dark-skinned boy, somewhere around her age, yelled out and reached over to take her hand.
Suddenly, she found herself standing in the middle of an active volcano.
"You don't understand, do you? It doesn't matter. You will in due time." A sinister looking man said as she faced him.
She didn't know why, but in that moment, she wanted nothing more than to punch that smirk right off his face.
Just as she was about to fire a few choice that would make her auntie blush ten times over and her mother talk her ears off, when she was startled awake by the slight jostling of the plane.
She jumped a bit, still under the influence of her peculiar dream.
Her heart pounded in her chest cavity as the rush of adrenaline and emotions crashed against her inner calm. She took a few deep, even breaths and counted to ten.
It would do her no good if she panicked and got a heart attack, after all.
Her sapphire blue orbs took in her surroundings, as if waiting for something to pop out of nowhere. Turning her head towards the window, she noted that she hadn't slept for too long.
Adjusting her eyes to the bright light from outside, she leaned back into her comfy seat.
"Morning, sleepyhead." A warm voice said.
She turned her head to the boy next to her and smiled as her blue eyes met his kind brown ones.
If there was one person on the whole globe who was capable of making her smile after a wierd dream like the one she just had, then it must be Diego. Her best friend and one of her closest confidants.
"I hadn't been sleeping for that long, you dork." She laughed at the goofy grin on his face.
Looking out the small window, she marveled at the beautiful sights that greeted her.
"I'm not dreaming, am I?" She said breathlessly as the sea glistened below.
"Doesn't feel real, huh? Just imagine it - you, me, the sun and a whole lot of fun. We're finally on our way there." Diego said as his eyes looked on, probably imagining the very same scene he painted for her.
Shaking her head at her best friend's theatrics, she tuned in the chatter of the other lucky students, who won the contest as well.
"One magical week in paradise, here we come!" A beautiful red haired girl exclaimed from the front row.
"All expenses paid, what whaaat!" One of the jocks hollered.
"It's good thing too. I'm so deep in student debt, I couldn't even aford instant ramen right now." His chubby friend added.
She smiled at the excitement that radiated off her peers, only to frown as her dream came back to the forefront of her mind.
Call it a gut feeling, but something doesn't seem right with all of this.
As she began to ponder on what was about to come, Diego started talking again.
She honestly wished she knew what he was going on about this time, her mind tuned him out.
Every sound became white noise to her ears. The fear, the desperation and all the other emotions in between made it a little difficult for her to think properly.
"...You will in due time." That sentence rang over and over in her head as those cold blue orbs flashed in her mind's inner eye.
'What's wrong with me? Why won't that stupid dream leave me be?' She wondered.
"Hey... you okay, Prue? You look a little pale. Bad dream?" Diego brought her back to reality, his warm eyes filled with worry and concern for her well-being.
Prue pondered whether or not to tell him about her dream. But seeing how it wouldn't hurt to let him know, she decided to tell him and be done with it.
For all she knew, he might even help relieve the dread that formed in her gut.
"Not bad, just a really wierd one." Prue began.
She pulled her golden curls away from her face and continued, "I dreamt about...about him!" She all but jumped out of her seat as she laid her eyes on the dark-skinned guy from her dream.
'What the hell?! How in the world is this possible?' She thought as her heartbeat accelerated.
"You dreamt about Sean Gayle? Well, what the hell are you waiting for? Go, talk to him." Diego said with a chuckle as he pushed the blond out of her seat.
Prue, who was still in shock, stumbled out in the aisle and collided with the handsome jock.
"Whoa, hello there." Sean said with an easy-going smile as he helped the beautiful blond up on her feet.
"Oh, I'm so so sorry about that. My best friend's a bit of an idiot." Prue blurted out the first thing that came to mind. Which wasn't far from the truth.
"Hey! I'm not the one that actually had a dream about him!" Diego exclaimed with a pout forming on his face along with a raging blush as Sean regarded him with the same smile he gave Prue.
"You had a dream about me? I hope it was a good one." He said with a flirtatious smile as he turned his warm eyes back on Prue.
"Actually, it was kind of terrifying." She said honestly, before realization stroke her like lightening as her words registered in her brain and she immediately backpedaled.
"Not because of you. It's because..." Sean waved it off with a gentle smile on his face.
He saw that the blond was embarrassed and wanted to remedy the situation, so he wanted to make it easier for her.
"Hey, it's okay. I'll take it as a compliment anyway." Patting her on her shoulder, Sean continued on towards his seat.
Breathing a sigh of relief, Prue went back to her seat feeling at ease that she was no longer in that awkward situation.
Diego, being Diego, laughed like crazy at her expense.
Rolling her eyes at him, Prue sat down and opened her backpack. Rumaging around, she pulled out a bottle of water.
Taking a sip, she turned to look at the laughing hyena she calls her best friend.
"Are you done know?" She asked.
"Oh man, you should have seen the look on your face. I got the whole thing on video! Hahahahaghaha, you gotta see this later on." Diego chuckled.
Prue shook her head at him and took another sip of water.
"Hey, this isn't right. My watch says it's 5:15. If this is to be trusted, we should have landed an hour ago." He said, showing her the time.
"It's wierd, though. I know for a fact that you hadn't been snoring for that long." He added.
"Ha. Ha. Ha. You're so hilarious. I can't stop laughing." Prue said dryly, before getting up from her seat (on her own this time) and stated.
"I'll go speak to the pilot and see if everything's alright." With that she walked down the aisle and towards the cockpit.
Along the way there, she picked up the chatter of the other students who where trying to speak over each other.
"Excuse me, will you all please cease your babbling, the tour guide is trying to speak." A tall and poised bleach blond said in a perfect British accent.
"Thank you, Aleister. Now, since I'll be your tour guide for the whole week, I thought that it would be great if we were...you know, friends." She said in an overly enthusiastic tone.
"I mean, this is an island after all. So, we are kinda stuck with each other until the end of your vacation." She said with a broad smile on her face as a few people groaned at that.
"Is it too late to jump out of the plane?" A dark-skinned girl groaned. Her face resembled that of a person who'd sucked a sour lemon.
Prue had to bite her lips so that she doesn't start laughing outright.
As she entered the cockpit, Prue noticed that the pilot had his feet kicked up on the dashboard.
'That's not how you pilot a plane.' Prue thought to herself as she approached the man and gently tapped him on the shoulder.
"Excuse me, your name is Jake, right? I was wondering if everything was alright, since we were supposed to have landed an hour ago and I..." She cut herself off when she noticed that the man wasn't even listening to her. He wasn't even awake for that matter.
'How irresponsible! No wonder we're an hour behind schedule.' Prue held herself back from throttling the man for scaring her.
"Are you seriously sleeping at a time like this?" She said as she pinched him awake.
"Hnr." He jolted and looked up at her, blinking the sleep away from his eyes.
Prue, on the other hand, was hit with another wave of recognition as she took him in for the first time since she boarded the plane.
'He's the guy I was with in that jungle in my dream.' She thought as her stomach churned with dread, as her bizzare dream invaded her thoughts.
'God, I hope that this is all just a funny coincidence. Please, let it be just that.' Prue desperately prayed.
"Don'tcha know it's rude to wake someone from their much needed nap, Princess." The pilot said as he stretched his arms over his head.
Prue raised a perfect golden blond eyebrow at that.
"First, you're supposed to be flying this plane, not sleeping the whole flight away. There are lives on this plane that had been entrusted to you." Prue said sternly while placing her left hand on her hip.
"And second, 'Princess'?" She gave him a look that told him that he needed to elaborate. Or else.
"Ooh, feisty. I like that." He grinned at her and continued on speaking after she sent a stern glare his way.
"What can I say? I always give nicknames to people who annoy me. Plus, it kinda fits ya." Jake shrugged his shoulders as if it was the best explanation he could come up with.
"Is that so? Well, in that case I'm gonna call you...Top Gun."
Jake looked at her with wide eyes. He hadn't expected her to play along like that.
'He's really cute when he gets flustered.' Prue thought while giggling internally.
"What's the matter, Top Gun? Can't take what you dish out?" She teased.
"Top Gun? Hey, you can't be giving nicknames, Princess. That's my thing."
Prue shrugged her shoulders and calmly said, "What can I say? It fits you. And I really like it, so I'm gonna keep doing it."
"Yeah? Well, you ain't clever enough to keep 'em coming, Princess. It takes a while to be as good at it as me. Not to mention, talent and a lot of work." He grinned.
Prue snorted at that, "Who said I wanted to be 'as good as you'? Maybe I want to be even better." She tried to look serious, but even she could tell that a smile was about to break out on her face.
Plus, it was hard to keep the serious mask on when she was bantering like this.
"We'll see about that. Anyway, relax. We ain't landing 'til..." He stopped talking when took a look at the dashboard.
"What the hell? That time ain't right. And that ain't right either." He said as he whacked the instrument panel on the dashboard a few times.
Prue looked at him sceptically as he continued to hit on the dashboard.
'I'm not much of a pilot, but I know that's not how you pilot a plane. Or anything else for that matter.' She thought and then wondered how in the world he even managed to get a license.
"Are you sure you know what you're doing?" Prue aasked, a hint of worry and fear could be heard in her voice.
"Heh. If you knew half the things I've survived, Princess, you'd bet on me to get you through anyth..."
Suddenly, the plane got hit by turbulence. The force behind it was strong enough to rattle the plane.
Prue got a firm hold on the co-pilot's seat and held onto it for dear life.
Red lights flashed all around the cockpit as the alarms activated one by one.
The screams and cries of the other passengers reached her ears and resonated against her skull.
She could practically taste their fear and she hated herself for being unable to help them. Her sapphire blue eyes fell on Jake, who was trying to gain control of the plane.
"Aw, just great. The stormfront's just ahead and coming in fast." Jake yelled and swore something she wasn't able to hear due to the wailing sirens and the screaming of her peers.
Jake leaned in and pulled the yoke, trying to outmaneuver the storm.
"Get your pretty ass in a seat, hear. And tell everyone to buckle up. We're goin' in for one hell of a ride." Jake shouted over the alarms.
"But-" Prue tried to say something, but he interrupted her.
"Now, Princess!" He ordered, leaving no room for discussion.
Prue shut her mouth and did as he told her to.
Holding onto the walls, she managed navigated her way out.
Once she got out, Prue had to hold onto the wall with everything she had, because powerful gusts rocked the plane side by side as dark clouds enveloped the plane.
"EVERYONE, PUT ON YOUR SEATBELTS! HURRY!" She yelled.
Everyone quickly did what she ordered with more or less luck and clutched onto their seats, hoping that they will make it out of this in one piece.
"Oh man, I can't believe I'm saying this, but I'm starting to regret eating that airport Chipotle." Raj yelled as he clutched his stomach with one hand, his face turned green for a few seconds.
"Don't puke, bro! If you puke, then I'm gonna puke too." His friend yelled.
"Where the hell did this storm come from? It was a clear day!" Some girl yelled. Her voice, surprisingly, was loud enough to be heard over all the chaos that was happening around them.
"It happens sometimes, okay? It's totally normal!" Jake answered from the cockpit, trying to ease them somehow.
"Yeah. Sure. THAT looks normal!" The dark-skinned girl pointed to something that was happening out the window.
Looking out the window, there were small orange balls of electricity coming out of the storm clouds that lit the dark sky in a bright yellowish color.
The orange balls hit against the plane and exploded into small orange sparks.
"They look like lightening balls. But, I've never seen nor heard of such a thing before." Her old lab partner, Grace said. Her voice was filled with both admiration and fear.
"No, I cannot die here with these morons surrounding me." The bleach blond shouted, his face twisted in pure horror.
'Oh, yes. That's the worst thing that could happen to a mortal person.'
Prue would have rolled her eyes at that, if she wasn't far too preoccupied with surviving this crazy weather.
'Note to self: Kick His Royal Highness' ego down a notch, if you come out of this safe and sound.' Prue thought to herself.
"Everyone just breathe. We're gonna get through this!" Sean, the sweetheart he was, focused on getting everyone to calm down.
"Oh god, oh god, oh god,..." The red haired girl moaned in her hands as she covered her face.
Just then, lightning struck the plane sending small sparks of electricity all around the cockpit.
Everyone screamed as another powerful gust hit the plane as if wanting it to crash and burn.
"JAKE!" Prue yelled, concerned for the pilot's safety. She turned her head towards the cockpit and felt enormous relief wash over her when she saw that the handsome pilot was alright.
"Welp, the engines just lost power. Bringin' this baby down manually. Everybody, hold on." Jake said, before taking control of the plane.
The entire cabin errupted in hysteria as everyone yelled one thing or another in their panicked states.
All, except for one person that is...
Prue met the eyes of the girl who was sitting in the back row. The said girl was completely calm and unfazed by what was happening around her.
'Talk about nerves of steel. Who is she? I don't remember ever seeing her around campus before.' Prue thought and tried to put a name to that face.
Unfortunately, before she could do so, the tour guide broke her out of her musings.
"Prue, honey, safety first! Find a seat and buckle up."
Prue nodded her head and quickly took the seat next to the red haired girl.
The said girl looked to be a short breath away from a full blown heart attack, if the shallow breaths and her having trouble breathing was anything to go by.
"This can't be happening...not now...it's too soon." She muttered to herself.
"Hey, we'll be alright. This storm will pass and we'll be there before you know it." Prue said gently, taking the girl's cool hand into her own warm one.
"Breathe. In and out." She added, holding the frightened girl's hand firmly with her right hand while she rubbed her back in small circles with her left one.
She did as Prue ordered and soon her breathing pattern was back to normal, but there was still something that bothered the her.
'It's really not that hard to tell. The girl's practically an open book. That, and she's a few minutes away from cutting off the blood flow in my hand. And the armrest on the other side isn't faring much better either.' Prue thought.
Then, she tried to come up with something that would help sooth the poor girl.
'I haven't done this in a long time, but it's worth a shot. Worse case scenario, I make a total and complete fool of myself in front of everyone. No pressure.' Prue sighed and turned to her seatmate.
"Hey...why couldn't the melons get married?" Prue asked gently, so that she wouldn't startle the girl.
"Wha...what?...Oh, I don't know. Wh..why?" She stuttered as she looked at Prue, her eyes shining with curiosity.
"Because they cantaloupe!" Prue said with a wide grin on her beautiful face.
She could hear Diego groan at the joke from behind, despite the situation they're currently in. Which in turn, made Prue snicker at his, now, annoyed state.
Her seatmate looked at her with a blank expression, before she started laughing out loud at the joke.
"Because they can't elope. Hahahahah, that must be the most ridiculous joke I've ever heard." She said breathlessly, before she on continued laughing.
Her infectious laughter caused Raj, Lila (their tour guide), Sean, Craig and Grace to start laughing too.
"Are you positively mad? This is no time to be making jokes!" Mr. Ray of Sunshine hissed from behind.
Letting her seatmate go for a moment, Prue turned around and leveled Aleister with a cold glare that made him move back into his seat.
"Lighten up, Ebenezer Scrooge! The poor girl was close to having a heart attack. What was I supposed to do? Sit quietly in my seat and watch while she chocked to death? If you have a much better suggestion, then let's hear it." Prue hissed back sarcastically.
Aleister opened his mouth to say something, but closed it soon after. He obviously had nothing to say to that, so he simply looked away from the blond.
"Thought that would be your answer. Do us all a favor and lose the attitude. Panicking, arguing and screaming won't change anything. It will just make things even worse than they already are." With that she turned back in her seat.
The plane had gone silent soon after that. It seemed that everyone had heard her put Aleister in his place.
Prue didn't let it show outwardly, but inwardly she was kinda squirming from all the silence. Everyone just sat still in their seats and hoped for the best.
Feeling someone softly tap her shoulder made Prue turn towards the person who did that.
Her sapphire blues met with the redhead's sky blue ones.
"Thank you for helping me out. I'm Quinn." She said as she extended her hand for Prue to shake.
"Hi, Quinn. I'm Prudence O'Connell. But, you can just call me Prue." Prue smiled, taking Quinn's hand.
The two girls smiled at each other, both feeling content with the newly formed friendship.
Prue tied her golden hair into a tight low ponytail with a tasteful knot.
As she did so she felt a few pairs of eyes on her. She wasn't too certain about the other pairs of eyes, but at the very least she knew two.
The first pair of eyes belong to Quinn, the second to the girl at the back.
As a matter of fact, Prue felt the girl's eyes on her for a while now.
'What's her deal?' She wondered.
"You look really beautiful with your hair tied back, Prue. Could you teach me how to do that sometime?" Quinn asked.
Prue looked at her new friend and smiled at the puppy dog look she was giving her.
"I would love to, Quinn. As soon as we get settled in our rooms, you could come over to my room and we could have a slumber party." Prue offered with a small smile.
"Really?" Quinn asked softly with stars in her eyes.
"Really." Prue promised and got enveloped in a bone-crushing hug by Quinn.
The kind girl practically radiated with happiness as she flashed a smile so bright that could put a little child's to shame.
They looked out the window and saw that they were still stuck in the raging storm and felt a little disheartened by it.
Prue turned her attention back on Jake, who was doing everything he could to get them to safety.
"Just a little more and we're out of here." He hissed as he pulled the yoke with all his might.
Prue watched as the muscles on his back flexed and unflexed with each movement. Even though she was unable to see it, Prue knew that his skin must be slick with sweat from all those complicated maneuvers.
Sweat that's probably dripping down his chest to his abs...Prue decided to stop her thoughts there, before she resembled a tomato.
"Would you like some water, Prue?" Quinn offered the said liquid to her new best friend.
Prue didn't say anything, she just took the offered cup of cool water and drank it all in one go.
The sooner she gets her hormones under control, the better it will be for her and Jake in the end.
In a matter of minutes, they finally managed to get out of the storm and into the clear blue skies once more.
"Woooooohooooooo! We're alive!" Raj yelled in relief as he leaned back into his seat, happy that the nightmare was finally over.
"Prue, look at this." Quinn sqealed in excitement.
Looking out her window, Prue could understand why Quinn was so excited about.
The emerald green island was a sight for sore eyes indeed.
"Get ready, 'cuz we're comin' in fast. Welcome to La Huerta." Jake said from the cockpit.
Prue had a strong feeling that he was smiling when he said that. And honestly, after all the pressure he had to put up with during that storm, she doesn't blame him at one bit.
While everyone was marveling the island's beauty, Jake tried to contact the control tower.
"La Huerta Tower, this is tail number XC-DMK, requesting priority to land!" Jake said over the radio, but hadn't got a response from the control tower yet.
"Yo, Carlos! It's Jake! Wake up, ya lazy bastard!" He tried to get a response once more. Only to get no answer from them once again.
"Ignoring me won't make me forget the thousand bucks ya owe me! Like it or not, we're coming in!" He said angrily as he prepared the plane for landing.
A few minutes later, Jake taxied the plane gently across the airstrip and finally landing it in the hangar.
The moment the doors opened, everyone leaped out of their seats and got off the plane in a hurry.
Prue got out of her seat and got off the plane like a civilized person.
Feeling the warm rays of sun on her skin after so long was such a blessing. Especially after the near death situation they had been in a few moments ago.
Turning her head towards the plane, Prue saw Jake getting off it and smiled at the handsome pilot.
As much as she will deny it later on, she will actually miss him. After all, how could one forget a guy like him.
"Rough landing there, Top Gun. I hope your not working for tips." She beamed at him as he approached the entrance of the hangar.
"You kidding? I'm a damn hero for getting you on the ground." He laughed.
"That you are." Prue said softly with a warm smile.
Jake looked at the blond in confusion. She had an odd look in her eyes and he didn't know what to make of it exactly.
He wasn't used to talking to girls like her. Easy girls looking for a one night stand and some fun, definitely. Hell, he could write a book about 'em.
But, beautiful girls like Prue...well, it was safe to say that he had no clue what to do.
If talking to smart, accomplished and beautiful girls was a subject back at military school, he would have failed it hands down.
Jake decided to stop his thoughts there. It was better not to go down memory lane.
It was just too painful for him to bare without alcohol.
Suddenly, a pair of slender arms wrapped around him and the smell of something sweet and flowery entered his nostrils.
Looking down, he got an eyefull of golden hair than shined brighter than the sun.
"Thank you for saving our lives and getting us here in one piece, Jake. I don't know what we would've done without you." She whispered softly in his ear.
Jake blushed a bit at the attention and moved his body away from hers as her body heat seeped through his clothes.
'Well, this will certainly come back to bite me in the ass.' He thought as she released him from her embrace.
"No prob, Princess. Have fun for me out here, will ya?" He said as he avoided her warm sapphire blue gaze and turned towards the other direction.
As the light breeze blew past him, Jake picked up the scent of her perfume that got mixed up with the cologne he had on.
'Yup. Definitely gonna come back to fuck with me. Oh, joy.' He thought as he stole one final look at the gorgeous blond, who looked to be too busy putting some snotty kids in their place.
He had to bite his lower lip in order to prevent himself from laughing, when he saw her punch some big jock in the gut.
'She's got fire alright. Can't decide whether that bodes well for me or not.' He sighed and shook his head.
He can worry about that later. Right now, he's got other things to take care of.
"Yo, Carlos! I need a tune up!...Hey, Carlos!" He yelled as he looked for his friend.
Meanwhile with Prue and the gang...
Prue watched as Jake marched off looking for someone by the name Carlos.
Her eyes wondered from his hair and the way the breeze blew it gently in a few different directions to his delicious-looking glutes.
'Captain America has nothing on him.' She thought as she took one final look at him, before she went over to the cargo bay to pick up her luggage, but got stopped by Quinn along the way.
"They say that this island is considered to be one of the most magical places on Earth. The tropical weather, the sandy beaches, the sparkling waterfalls,..." Quinn trailed off as her eyes lit up just thinking about the amazing things she will see and hear.
"And it's home to a plethora of rare flora and fauna." Grace added on Quinn's behalf as she walked up to the two girls.
"Of all the people they could've given one of the ten spots, they just had to give it to this dork." Craig angrily complained to his friend, Raj, not even bothering to lower his voice, so that they wouldn't hear him.
Grace heard him call her a dork and instantly closed her mouth, hurt shining in her usually bright brown orbs.
Prue's blood boiled at the sight of her friend getting pick on by some inconsiderate asshole. And it only got worse as she noticed that Grace was beginning to tear up.
'This prick is going down!' Prue hissed in her mind as her eyes lit up with pure fire.
"Uhm, Prue..." Quinn looked a little frightened by the ice cold glare the blond was currently directing towards the big jock.
"Oh, boy. This won't end well at all." Diego said to no one in particular as he recognized the tell-tale signs of his best friend's rage coming out to play.
Sean stood next to him, looking a little perplexed with the situation playing out in front of them.
"Hey, Big Boy, why don't you come over here and apologize." Prue called out, her tone of voice was stern and her cold blue eyes could carve an iceberg.
Craig turned around to face the busty blond chick who called him out.
He looked her up and down, trying to determine whether or not she was worthy of even being considered as a threat to him.
Judging by the large shit-eating grin on his face, she was no where near threat level.
Poor guy. He had no idea what he was getting himself into.
"Oh, yeah? Says who? You?" Craig said, leaning against the plane with his arms crossed.
"Yes, me. I thought that was obvious by now. Aologize to Grace. Right now!" Prue ordered. Her gaze firmly set and locked on Craig.
"Or else what, Barbie?" Craig snapped back, angered by the girl's attitude.
"Prue, it...it's okay. I-I'm used to it." Grace pleaded with Prue quietly, feeling uncomfortable with all the fuss that was happening because of her.
"No, you're not. Don't worry, though. Everything will be alright as soon as Craig apologizes for insulting you." Prue stated calmly, her eyes still dead set on the tall jock.
"Yeah? Well, guess what, Barbie? I ain't gonna apologize. So, what are you gonna do about it, huh?" Craig said, moving away from the plane and walked towards Prue.
"Craig, don't you dare! Just back away!" Sean said as he stepped in Craig's way.
He knew Craig like the back of his hand. And Craig hated being bossed around by people whom he deemed beneath him.
"Don't worry, bro. I'm just gonna show Barbie here how to treat a man, is all." Craig walked around Sean, cracking his fingers as he did so.
"CRAIG!" Sean yelled, his voice filled with warning.
"If I were you, I'd worry about your friend over there. He's about to be in a world of pain really soon." Diego stated calmly, his eyes filled with amusement at the scene before him.
Sean eyed him as if he had lost his mind. He didn't get how the hell he was so calm, when his best friend, who's also a girl, is facing off a guy practically twice her size.
Diego turned to him with a smile on his face, which both frusterated and confused the tall football player even more.
"I know what you're thinking right now. Trust me, if I had just met Prue I would have reacted the exact same way as you. But, I've known her for a long time now and I know that there was no force on Earth that could take her head on." Diego explained.
"How can you say that? Just look at her!" Sean nodded at the blond while keeping a close eye on Craig and getting ready to step in, if it was necessary.
"Don't judge a book by it's cover, Sean. I know Prue may seem fragile, but she's far from it actually." When Sean was about to make a retort, he went on.
"Her parents are both former government special secret service agents and her grandparents founded the CIA (A/N: Just my wild imagination). They taught Prue everything they knew from a very early age. Which is quite a lot, mind you. On top of that, Prue also took up and mastered boxing and kickboxing. Plus, she happens to have a black belt in several different martial arts." Diego listed off on his fingers as Sean's face paled.
"So, I repeat - Your friend's the one for whom you should be worried about right now. Not Prue. She's a one woman army, dude." With that Diego turned to watch the show.
When Craig came face to face with Prue, he smirked at her.
Prue stood her ground against the guy, not even covering in fear (like Grace was). She looked him directly in the eyes, almost daring him to make a move.
"We can do this the easy way or my way, Craig. Just apologize to Grace and I promise you that I won't hurt a single strand of hair on your head." Prue warned for the last time. If the fool backed down, she won't have to resort to other more painful methods.
"Craig, that's enough, dude. Let it go." Raj tried to calm everyone down.
"I won't ask you again, Craig. Apologize." Prue said to the grinning jock, her hands fisting at her sides.
"What? What's that? I can't hear ya, Shorty. Could ya speak up? I can't hear ya up here." Craig cupped his hands around his mouth as if he was shouting to someone from a great distance, implying that Prue was either smaller than him or beneath him. Or probably both.
Whichever it was, Prue didn't like it at all. However, she had the perfect comeback for Mr. Tall, Dark and Dangerous.
As he was laughing it up with some other girl she hadn't had the 'pleasure' of meeting in person and preparing for his next wise crack, Prue swiftly punched him in the abdomen, leaving him gasping for air.
"Craig!" The aforementioned girl called out in worry.
Craig grasped his stomach and bent down. The pain rocketing through every cell in his body.
"Now we're on the exact same level, so you won't have any trouble understanding me." Prue stated calmly as she took Craig's chin into her hand and lowered him to her face.
"And since you can hear me perfectly from here, I will give you one last chance to apologize to Grace. Refuse or make a smartass remark and I will hurt you a whole lot more and a whole lot worse." She said coldly, while letting go of his chin.
"You're one crazy bitch." Craig groaned breathlessly.
"If a hound is a man's best friend, then a bitch is a woman's. Flattery will get you nowhere with me, but thank you for the compliment, Craig." Prue said with a broad smile on her face.
"Now, apologize." She pressed on, all traces of emotion gone from her face. But her eyes told a whole other story.
"JESUS! I'M SORRY, ALRIGHT!" He yelled out, backing away from Prue.
"There, that wasn't so hard, now was it?" Prue said sarcastically, taking in the poor guy's state of fear.
"If you apologized like I asked you to from the very beginning, you wouldn't have been in the position you're in now. Let this be a lesson to all who like to pick on people who are unable to defend themselves, for I'll always be there to put bullies of all shapes and sizes in their place. Wherever and whenever." She said with a hard look in her eyes as she eyed each and every one of them.
Seeing that she had made her point, Prue walked towards the cargo bay to pick up her luggage.
On her way there, she passed by Grace, placed her hand on her shoulder and briefly squeezed it in reassurance.
"Thank you, Prue." She whispered.
Prue nodded her head as she walked over to her things. After picking them up, she walked over to Diego.
"It's nice to see you haven't lost your gentle touch." Diego grinned at her.
"He should consider himself lucky I hadn't broken his wrists for cracking his fingers at me. You know how much I hate that." Prue said as she placed her luggage down besides Diego's.
Diego was about to say something back, when another voice spoke up.
"Hey, Prue?" Prue turned around to face Sean. Whom, she just noticed, had been standing there the whole time.
He looked a bit out of place and really uncomfortable for some reason.
"I'm really sorry for what happened back there. Craig was way out of line. But, I promise that I'll talk to him about it later on." He looked really embarrassed because of what his best friend did.
"Sean, there is no reason why you should feel ashamed and guilty. If anything, Craig should be the one saying that not you." Prue smiled at him, hoping to ease his worries a bit.
"I know. But I still feel like I should say something, you know?" He rubbed the back of his neck.
"I understand how you feel. But, you can't keep on apologizing in Craig's name forever. He needs to grow up and learn from his mistakes. I get that you two are best friends and everything, but you need to let Craig take care of himself for once. Yes, he might fall on his ass and get burned along the way, but he will finally grow up, grow a pair and be more responsible. You're not doing him any favors by jumping in to save him when things get hard. If Craig wants people to respect him, then he has to earn it." Prue said to the handsome jock, who looked at her as if mesmerized by her words.
"You're right. You're absolutely right about that. But, it's kinda hard for me to step back." He said with a sheepish smile.
"I know. In time, you will. Thank you for trying, though." Prue said with a beautiful smile and went to pick up her luggage.
Her hand touched Sean's, who was reaching to take his stuff too.
"Oh, I'm sorry about that." He blushed a bit and pulled his hand away.
"It's alright. No harm done, really. But, if your offering to carry my luggage as well, I won't complain." She joked, easing the awkward moment between her, hopefully, new friend and her.
"Oh my god! Could you be any more desperate?"
Prue turned towards the newcomer and resisted the urge to groan.
The newcomer was none other than the girl that had laughed with Craig at her expense a little while ago.
'It seems that I would be getting the 'pleasure' of meeting her right now. Aren't I lucky?' Prue thought sarcastically.
"Michelle, chill out. We were just talking." Sean tried to pacify the enraged girl.
Michelle walked over to Sean and draped her hands over his torso, taking her position in front of the jock like some kind of bodyguard.
Her brown eyes darkened with envy and rage as they locked with Prue's calm blue ones.
'Judging by her body language, she's either his girlfriend, ex-girlfriend or wannabe girlfriend. My, this day just gets better and better. First, Mr. Hotshot Bully and now, this. Isn't that just wonderful?' Prue mentally groaned.
She had a feeling that there's a migraine in her near future.
"I'm sick and tired of people like you chasing the spotlight like moths." She hissed, her eyes narrowing at Prue.
'Okay, this as far as she goes. It's about time I give this girl a reality check.' Prue narrowed her eyes at Michelle.
"People like me, you say? That's funny. I certainly don't remember meeting you before. Seeing how you obviously know me that well to know what kind of a person I am." Prue hissed back with a whole lot more bite than bark.
Michelle looked a little put off by her bravery.
"What? Don't tell me you honestly thought that I was just gonna stand by and let some insecure little girl with trust issues walk all over me, did you?" Prue said sardonically with an eyebrow raised as she read right through the snobby girl's behaviour.
"Let me tell you something, sweetheart. This is a free world and it's the 21th century. Which means, that I can and will speak to whomever I want, wherever and whenever I want, whether you liked it or not. You are no one important in my life to tell me what I can and can't do." Prue said coldly as she picked up her luggage.
"Sean doesn't need any famehounds flocking around him." Michelle snapped.
"Famehounds like you, right?" Prue shot back with a glare.
"Excuse me?" Michelle yelled in outrage.
"Michelle, seriously chill out. And I don't mean Netflix and popcorn chill. Leave it alone!" Sean tried to get in between the two girls one more time.
Too bad neither one of them were listening to him.
"You heard me loud and clear. I wasn't the one who started this whole ordeal, it was you! Just because you can't control your jealousy, doesn't give you the right to speak in anyone's name and attack someone like that. But, that just shows how well you were raised and educated!" Prue stopped there to take a deep calming breath, putting a rein on her temper, before continuing in a slightly more calmer tone.
"Sean and I were just joking around. I certainly wasn't planning to start a relationship with him! Contrary to you, I came here to relax and have fun with my friends. Not start fights with schoolyard bullies." With that she turned away from them.
"Here's a little friendly advice for you, Michelle. Try to control yourself more. Taking out your frustration on someone else will get you in more trouble than it's worth. Had it been some other girl in my shoes a few minutes ago, she would have beaten you to a bloody pulp. Think about it." With those parting words, Prue left the two with Diego in tow.
"Wow, heated much?" Diego chuckled.
"You have no idea." Prue sighed as she pinched the bridge of her nose in irritation.
"I've gotta say that I'm kinda proud of you, Prue."
"Kinda proud of me?"
"Well, yeah. How can I not be? Had Michelle pulled that stunt with you a few years ago, you would've torn her apart for all that she's worth. Both verbally and physically." Prue looked at Diego with an eyebrow raised.
"I was not that cruel, you know." Diego looked at her with wide eyes.
"Prue, you were the captain of the wrestling team in high school." Diego deadpanned.
"I don't see how that has anyth..."
"The BOYS' wrestling team." Diego added flatly, while Prue rolled her eyes at him.
She was about to add something to that when she noticed something shining on the ground.
"What's this?" Prue said as she picked up the object to examine it better.
"Is that...a tranquilizer dart?" Diego asked as he took a closer look at the object in Prue's hand.
She nodded her head, "Yes. Look, it's nearly empty too. A large dose like this must've been took down an animal the size of two elephants."
"You mean if they took it down." Diego joked.
Prue looked around the airstrip and checked the time on her cell phone.
'We've been here for about 15 minutes and no one from the resort had showed up yet. Not only that, but I don't even have cell service here and this is supposed to be a state of the art resort.' Prue looked from the hangar to the control tower to the dart in her hand.
"Something's seriously wrong here." She stated with frightening certainity.
"What do you mean, Prue?" Diego asked.
"We've landed 15 minutes ago and no one from the resort came to pick us up yet." She explained as she gave the entire area a once over.
"Oh, come on, Prue! You're starting to sound like some spoiled rich girl. Maybe they got sidetracked or something." Diego chuckled.
"Have you even bothered to read the pamphlets, Diego?" Prue questioned, turning to face Diego.
"This airstrip is never void of life. There are countless flights coming in and going out 24/7. While we were about to land, our pilot didn't get a response from the control tower."
"And?"
"What do you mean 'and'? Think about it, you idiot! If there were flights that were coming and going day in and day out, the control tower cannot be empty! Where are all the other tourists? This place is considered to be one of the best vacation spots in the world, don't you think that we would've seen someone by now? Or at least heard anything? The resort is not that far away from here, after all. We should've seen or heard something. Like the sound ofbirds chirping for example. Not only that, but how do you explain that there's suddenly no cell service?" Prue said what was going through her mind.
Diego eyed her for a few seconds, before he looking around as well.
"Okay, I see your point. But, what do you think is going on?" Diego asked, concern shining in his eyes.
"I don't know. I don't like this silence at all." Prue said, putting the dart in her backpack.
As she did so, she felt eyes on her again. Feeling a little unnerved by the look, Prue raised her head and met the gaze of the girl who sat in the back seat of the plane.
The same girl who had been a little too calm durning that freak storm.
'Who is she? And what's her deal? She's been looking at me constantly ever since we landed.' Prue thought, before something came to her.
She looked at each student around the hangar and then back at the mysterious brunette.
"Hey, Diego. Do you know that girl?" Prue whispered, taking notice that the said girl was close enough to listen in on their conversation.
'She was probably listening in on us since I found that dart. I haven't seen her around us before that.'
"Dunno. Don't tell me you're interested in the mysterious hottie over there?" Diego whispered back with a large grin on his face.
"There's something off about her. I just can't figure out what that is." She said, ignoring Diego's last sentence.
"What do you mean?"
"Look around. We've been told that ten students from our college won the contest. Counting us off, along with the pilot and the tour guide...she makes eleven." Prue explained as she continued her stare off with the mysterious girl.
'What are you hiding behind that blank mask of yours?' Prue wondered.
She was usually very good at reading people, but this girl was proving to be quite the challenge.
They held gazes for a few long seconds. The hard brown eyes were pulling Prue in like a whirlpool.
'Is it just me or am I feeling a little lightheaded?' Prue thought as she felt light throb at the back of her head.
"Hey, Lila. Where the hell are your people?" Jake said as he marched back towards them, unknowingly saving her from the intense staring contest.
'Mental note: Give Jake another hug later on.' Prue thought with a small smile, shaking out of her wierd daze.
"There's nobody here!" Jake summarized what Prue had told Diego a few moments ago.
That's when the rest of the group figured out what she already noticed from the very beginning.
"I don't know. They should have been her by now." Lila answered, her face flashing with worry, before continuing on in her usual perky tone.
"There's no need to fret. I'm sure it's just a slight delay. Someone will come to pick us up any minute now." She tried to cheer everyone up.
"To hell with that. I'm goin' up to that control tower and see what's going on." Jake declared bravely.
"What do you think is going on here?" Prue turned to Jake, seeing how he might have a much better idea as to what is going on.
"I have no idea...Call it a gut feeling. But, whatever it is, it ain't good." He said, looking in the direction of the control tower, before turning to Prue with a small smile on his face.
"So, Princess, you comin' or what?" He asked, tilting his head a bit.
Prue found herself getting hypnotized by the way his brown hair shone in the sunlight as it swayed in the light breeze.
"I could go with you." Michelle interjected before Prue had the chance to respond.
'And this is the girl who practically threw a big fuss over Sean earlier. What a tramp!' Prue thought.
Just as she was about to put Michelle in her place, Jake swiftly cut her off.
"Wasn' talkin' to you, Maybelline." Prue snorted a laugh at that.
'By far the most fitting nickname of all.' She disguised her laugh with an elegant cough.
"Uhm, okay, I guess. The rest of you, please follow me. We'll just take the short walk up the hill to the resort. Doesn't that sound fun? Yay!" Lila jumped up with excitement.
"Someone put way too much sugar in their coffee this morning." Diego whispered to Prue.
She giggled silently at that, then turned her attention back to Jake as he walked over to the hangar.
"Ugh, Quinn, what are you doing?" Prue heard Lila say and tore her eyes away from Jake to look at what was going on in front of her.
Quinn was skipping past Lila, unbuttoning her white blouse as she did so, much to Craig's viewing pleasure.
"Some of us want to explore the beach a little first! We'll just meet you guys at the hotel." She said as she tried to unbutton the last button on her blouse.
"This button's stuck. Prue, could you help me out please?" Quinn turned to the blond.
"Of course. Let me take a look at it." Prue walked forth and met up with Quinn half way, helping her with the last button.
Finally getting the troublesome button to cooperate, Quinn took off her shirt, revealing her sky blue bikini top.
"Ahh, that's better. You're coming with us to the beach, right?" Quinn asked her new friend.
Prue glanced at Jake, 'This might be my chance to find out what's going on here and maybe even, get to know Jake a bit better.'
Turning her attention back on Quinn, who was giving her the puppy dog pout, Prue decided to compromise.
She didn't want to leave her new friend hanging, after all.
"I'll join you later on, Quinn. Right now, I want to find out what's going on."
"Okay. I'll see you later. Bye, Prue." Quinn waved as she walked towards the beach with a small group of people.
"Have fun, Quinn." Prue waved and turned to Diego.
"You wouldn't mind taking my luggage to the hotel, right?" She asked, giving him her infamous Bambi eyes.
"Ugh, please don't bring Bambi into this. I would've taken them with me either way." Diego squirmed under her gaze.
Prue squealed and wrapped her arms around her best friend, giving him a bone-crushing hug.
"Okay, okay. I'm awesome, I know." Diego laughed with Prue, before she walked over to Jake.
"So, does your offer still stand?" She asked as she jogged up to him.
"You ask permission for everything? Come on, Princess! Try to keep up!" He said as he started running towards the control tower.
"Hey! That's not fair! You got a head start!" She laughed as she ran after him, quickly catching up with him.
"Not bad, Princess! But, let's see if you can keep it up!" He laughed.
Soon they both reached the rusty stairs of the control tower, gasping for breath.
"I've gotta say, Princess. I'm surprised you actually managed to keep up with me." Jake panted, trying to catch his breath.
"Don't judge a book by it's cover, Jake. There's a lot of things you need to learn about me." Prue smiled at the young pilot.
Jake grinned at her and walked up the stairs. Prue followed shortly, stoping a few times to marvel at the beauty of the island.
"This place is absolutely beautiful. Do you fly out here often, Top Gun?" She asked, hoping to get to know the man who managed to get her attention without batting an eyelash.
"Here and every other privately owned resort island in the Caribbean. The favored vacation spots of the young and the privileged." Jake said as he avoided the moss on the stairs.
"You don't sound like you like it that much." Prue said, meeting the azure orbs of the former military soldier.
"Hey, it pays the bar tab. That's good enough for me." Jake grinned.
'God, I hope he's joking.' She thought, a small frown forming on her lips.
"I hope you don't mind me asking this, Jake. But, what got you into this business?"
"What makes people get into all sorts of things. Necessity." He said simply, before elaborating.
"Got a plane, had a pilot's license, a dishonorable discharge and an empty bank account." Jake felt like he was about to open up a bit more and stopped himself before he said too much.
'How the hell did I get myself into this situation?' Jake thought angrily.
"Wait! What is this, anyway? Twenty questions?" Jake snapped.
Prue was startled by the tone of voice he used. If she had known that he would have reacted to her question like that, she wouldn't have even asked in the first place.
It was silent for a few minutes. The only sounds that could be heard were the sounds of the ocean waves hitting against the sandy beach and the clicking of their shoes against the metal stairs.
Jake felt bad for losing his cool with Prue. She was just trying to be polite and wanted to get to know him a little.
It wasn't her fault that he had a screwed up past and bad memories from his time in the Navy.
'Congrats on bein' an asshole, McKenzie. I'm sure she's gonna want you now. 'Cuz girls like her just love to get yelled at for bein' polite. Any second now and she'll jump you. Ya idiot!' Jake berated himself as he tried to come up with a way to kill the silence and make it up to her.
But, Jake being Jake, heartfelt apologies weren't really his thing. So, he opted with the next best thing. Honesty.
"Look. I'm from Louisiana. If ferrying rich pricks around a couple of times a week is the price I gotta pay to never set foot back there, then I'll pay it. Hell, I'll pay a lot more if I have to. I don't have many fond memories of that place." He said the last part in something that could be classified as a whisper.
"I'm sorry. I shouldn't have asked. My bad." Prue said softly, her heart going out for him. She didn't even want to know how it felt to never be able to return home again.
"Naw, it's okay, Princess. You didn't know. So, there's really no need for you to feel sorry for me. To be completely honest, I've been having the time of my life. Been living in Costa Rica ever since. I even have a nice beach hammock and everything." He said as he climbed two steps at a time, wanting to get there as soon as possible, so that he doesn't have to continue the conversation.
"That sounds a bit lonely, though." Prue commentated.
"Uh, yeah. That's the beauty and appeal of it, Princess."
"I understand that you want to get away from everything for a little while, but don't you want something more." She said, trying to see what were his thoughts about relationships.
"Someone to come home to, someone to listen to you. Or to just hold you throughout the night..."
"You offering, Princess?" Jake cut her off with a overly flirtatious grin.
"What? I...n-no, I just meant...in theory,..." Prue stuttered out, while trying to control the enormous blush that was beginning to take over her entire face.
If Diego had been present, he would have teased her to such an extent that she would've thrown him over the edge in the end.
"In theory, I wanted to be the best pilot the Navy had ever seen. In practise,...well, nothing beats a cold beer and a Caribbean sunset." Jake shrugged his shoulders, feigning nonchalance.
Prue had to bite her tongue, so that she doesn't call him out on his lie. She could see that his shoulders were tense and that his body language screamed discomfort.
'He's not as aloof about it as he's trying to seem he is to me. I better not push him further, I don't want him to really get mad at me.' She thought as she tried to find a way to divert the conversation in another direction.
"Well, I'm not much of a beer fan, but I wouldn't mind watching the Caribbean sunset every now and then." Jake looked at her with a raised eyebrow.
"Really? You're into it?" He asked, his voice filled with doubt.
"Not permanently, of course. Just every now and then. What I don't get is why you're so surprised?" Jake grinned at the look she was giving him.
"Most people think it's wierd. They want the big house, white picket fence, two kids playing in the yard and everything."
"Well, I'm not most people. In my version of a happy home, I'd have a dog and at least, five children." Prue stated curtly and climbed ahead of Jake, while the said man looked at her in shock.
"Five?! Where the hell are you gonna find a guy who'd give you that many? Not that you're not hot or anything, but five kids?" Jake spluttered as he caught up to her.
Prue laughed at his facial expression and winked at him.
"Whether he wanted to give me that many or not, I'd still be having more than one child. It's basically a thing in my family, so I got used to the idea since I was little." Jake struggled to come up with something to say and not sound like a total ass.
"How can 'Old Woman Who Lived In A Shoe' be a thing in your family?"
"When twins, triplets, quintuplets and sextuplets happen in every 5th pregnancy in my family. My older brothers are identical triplets and I, myself, have an identical twin sister who is only 10 minutes younger than me. Not to mention, my grandfather was part of a quintuplet group and my mother has three older sisters who are triplets. And don't get me started on the rest of my family, that would take a while. So all things considered, it's perfectly obvious that I'll be giving birth to more than one baby sometime in the future." Prue explained as if it was the most normal thing in the world. (A/N: Which is, for the record.)
"Wow." That was the only thing Jake was able to say at that moment, before he got quiet for a few minutes as he tried to wrap his mind around that fact.
"I know that it's not something you hear everyday, but..." Prue began.
"No, no, no! It's not bad, really. It's just...different. In a good way." Jake interjected quickly.
"Although, I've gotta ask. How does your mom tell you guys apart?" He knew for a fact that he'd have no idea how to tell his kids apart, if he had a pair of identical twins.
"A mother can always tell her children apart, Jake. Just how women can tell when they are being lied to. It basically second nature to some of us."
Jake eyed her cheeky little grin for a few seconds. He wasn't sure if he was being punked or if she was being serious about that.
"Ya know, most girls avoid telling guys about how fertile they are."
"Yeah, well, I'm not most girls. I prefer to be unique in my own way." She turned to Jake and noticed that he was looking at her as if he was really seeing her for the first time.
Prue felt her heartbeat pick up speed, while she tried to control herself.
'Bad hormones. Bad.' She resisted the urge to give him a coy smile as she hoped that he would just look away.
"No. I guess you're not, Princess." He winked at her and continued on.
Meanwhile, Prue sighed in relief as her heart beat slowed down to a normal pace.
'Thank God! I don't think I'd be able to take it much longer.' Taking another calming breath, Prue sped up a little in order to catch up to Jake.
She was two steps away from him when the steps cracked beneath her and broke in two.
"JAKE!" Prue cried out in panic, her instincts kicking in a little too late this time.
Jake reacted instantly and pulled her into his arms, before it was too late.
"I gotcha Princess." He whispered gently into her ear.
'That was a close call. Thank God, I still have my quick reflexes.' Jake thought as he held the shivering blond against his chest, rubbing his arms along her back, trying to generate enough heat to warm her up so that she doesn't go into a shock.
Prue's heartbeat slowed down a bit as she breathing in Jake's unique scent.
The two watched as the rusty fragments twirl in the air as they plunged seventy feet to the ground.
"You okay there, Princess?" Jake asked after a few minutes of silence. He figured that he ought to give her some time to process everything that just happened.
"Yeah. I'm gettin' there." She said, finally calming down from her high.
"That was a close call there, Princess. You sure you're gonna be okay?" Jake asked, pulling her away so that he could take a good look at her.
"I'll be alright, Jake. I just need a few seconds to pull myself together." Prue said as she pulled her hair away from her eyes.
'My ponytail must've come undone during all the excitement.' She thought, looking up at Jake.
Jake will never say it out loud, but her golden curls getting so winded and messy was becoming a huge turn on for him.
'Especially, when a strand of it gets caught on her lips and her eyes.' He thought as a small smile began to pull at his lips.
"Thank you for saving me, Jake. I really owe you one." Jake was brought back to reality by the sound of her voice.
'Damn, that stupid strand is so distracting!' He thought as he answered.
"Don't mention it, Princess. You're too pretty to be splattered on the ground." He grinned at her and continued to climb up the rusty metal stairs.
Prue blushed at the compliment as she followed him up, making sure to mirror his steps.
Soon, they reached the top of the control tower.
Jake walked over to the door and threw it open.
"Hey, Carlos! You dumb-" Jake stoped his rant when he noticed that there was no one there.
"What in the..."
"Just as I thought. There's no one here." Prue stated as she walked in from behind Jake.
"Wait a minute! You knew?" Jake looked at her with wide eyes.
"I had a hunch." Prue answered as she dragged her index finger across the desk, raised her finger and inspected it.
"Care to share, Princess?" Jake asked, interrupting her thought yet again.
"Think about it, Jake. During all your time as a pilot, had there ever been a time when the control tower failed to respond to you?" Prue walked over to the window, opening it so that the stale air could get out.
Jake racked his brain, trying to remember if there had been a time such a thing ever occured. But, he came up with a blank.
"Not in my experience. Although, such a thing should be impossible. Someone must be in here at all times, just in case."
"Exactly. Which is why I found it odd that no one from the control tower responded to you when we were about to land. This resort has filghts that were coming in and going out 24/7. So at the very least, there had to be a small group present at all times." Prue explained, as her brain working a thousand miles per second.
She was so wrapped up in her thoughts, that she hadn't even noticed the awed look her companion was giving her.
"Jake, when was the last time you were called to fly someone here?" Prue asked, inspecting the dust once more.
"About two months ago. Why do you ask?" Jake watched as she glanced around the room, before turning to face him.
"Judging by the amount of dust and the few cobwebs I spotted by the window panel, I'd say that the last time someone had been in here was at least five weeks ago. I figured that out the minute I entered this place." She said as she walked towards the computer area.
Turning them on, Prue expertly went through each file there was.
"Uh, Princess? Are you sure you know what you're doin'?" She felt Jake walk up next to her.
"These computers had been cleaned out completely. There isn't a single file left on them. Which means that someone didn't want us to see what was on this computer." Prue turned off the computer and went to inspect the wall phone.
"Why would someone do that, though?" Jake wondered as he walked over to the window.
"I don't know. But, I plan to find out. I don't like this at all." Prue placed the phone back into its place, seeing how it was out of order.
"I don't think that we'll find anything here, Jake. Why don't we go back and-" Prue stopped talking when she noticed that Jake wasn't even listening to her.
He seemed to be enraptured by something out the window.
"Jake?" She tried to get his attention.
Raising an eyebrow at the lack of response from the brunette, Prue walked over to him to see what he was looking at with such devotion.
"What's got your undevided attention, Top Gun?" She teased, before looking out the window herself.
In that moment, she could honestly say that she had never seen anything more beautiful in her entire life.
There were lots of bright and colorful lights that danced across the island, creating a mock version of an Aurora Borealis.
Prue watched as the beautiful lights flickered around, tiny little sparks of rainbow light falling softly like snow flakes.
Without even realizing it, Prue's smaller hand reached for Jake's larger one.
Without hesitation, their fingers laced together, creating the perfect fit between them.
Each space was filled by the other's, leaving no room between them as a fire was lit underneath their skin.
It was as if they're made for each other and no other would do.
"Jake? What is this?" Prue asked breathlessly, not even daring to blink, afraid she might miss something important.
"I...I don't know." He replied softly.
Prue tore her gaze away from the bright lights to look at Jake. It would seem that he thought of that too, since he turned his amazingly blue eyes back on her.
Their gazes were locked on each other. Their breaths mingled as they got closer.
Rich heavenly blues locked on deep ocean blue irises.
Time came to a complete stop as the shiny lights from outside reflected off the surface of the pair's eyes.
The sunlight hit Prue at the perfect angle, enveloping her frame in an ethereal glow, making her skin and hair shine brightly.
'Her skin...'
It was pulling him in like gravity. Begging him basically to just shower it with kisses and nip at it with his teeth. To see whether it's as sweet as it smelled.
The atmosphere was charged with electricity as the pair neared each other.
Suddenly, the lights disappeard. And with them, the tension in the room as well.
The young pair jumped a bit and broke out of their daze as the reality of the situation settled in.
"I...ugh-" Jake tried to come up with something to say.
"Jake...I-" Prue struggled to remain coherent as Jake's blue eyes refused to look away from her person.
Jake moved away a bit, when he noticed their interwoven hands.
"...Ehm, sorry about that." He coughed and pulled his hand away, shaking out of the wierd spell he'd been placed under.
Prue's cheeks turned bright pink when she, too, realized that she's been holding Jake's hand the entire time.
'I can't believe I didn't notice that I'd been holding his hand for almost twenty minutes!' Prue thought to herself as she pinched her wrist to get a hold over herself and her hormons.
Taking in a deep, calming breath, she looked out the windows, hoping to see if the strange lights would return again.
Only this time, she wouldn't be easily swayed by them like the first time.
Hearing Jake calling out her name, Prue turned away from the windows and walked towards him.
The wierd feeling returned once more as it poured over the young blonde like an ice cold shower.
And that's it for chapter 1! I really hope you liked it. I apologize if there are any grammatical mistakes (or any other mistake for that matter), English is not my first language.
Leave a comment, follow or 'like' the fic, if you liked it.
Also, I wish you all a Merry Xmas and a Happy New Year! May all your dreams come true (not if you're a serial killer or something like that).
Well, that's it for today. Stay tuned for more on the same site and on the same story!
Love you all!
